temp eyelt fix?

Two eyelets back from the tip of one of my surf rods I somehow lost the inner plastic ring. Just curious if anyone ever came up with a temporary fix for this, or is replacing it the only option?

On a spinning rod, I'd cut it off the entire guide until I could put on a new guide. I'm not confident in any in between step.

oh crap, I didn't even think of going without one there. Good idea. Of course I'm still open to MacGuyverisms.
