sensationalism
The weather service has used sensationalism perhaps to better their ratings. they have created panic. This storm was way over blown. It was no more then a nor'easter in the Carolinas, Nantucket will be high winds gusting to 75mph and around Cape Ann the winds will be around 35mph. Yes there may be power outageous and some minor flooding which is exspected in any storm.
With all of todays technolgy, weather planes etc:, they should be able to predict much better. A lot of money has been lost for this coming weekend such as whale watching, events on land. Some will say better safe then sorry.
Saturday sunshine early morning, winds subsiding, Sunday, sunny some rolling seas and the bluefish tournament will be on schedule.
What's better then that?

A little bit over and a little bit stronger and this would have been a much bigger storm damage wise. I didn't see the media hyping it, hell, it was a bit piece on most cable news.
Most of the overreaction I've seen has been here on S-B.com.

What weather service has ratings? There are many, many sources for this info.If this storm was 100 miles to the west and it would be a different story. Millions in damages, potential for lost life, etc. Remember Katrina? We're better safe that sorry. All the science in the world can't predict mother nature. The projected path was very clearly drawn out and the hurricane has pretty much followed it exactly. There are dozens of storms every year that never make headlines, this one is close to the coast and could have had devastating results.

hmmm, you could be right. Might just be an attempt by the Obama administration to take our attention away from the economy

Funny, and Drudge is reporting that unemployment ticked up slightly...
Coincidence? I think not.
You'd think the lamestream media would have got the memo. I just saw some hurricane coverage on MSNBC, something about a roof torn off in NC, probably some stock footage.

Let's head east, through Quicks and onto the Head. Some good grass beds just east of there.

The S.S. Tonsil Tickle (RIJIMMY's Boat) has a really spacious cabin with room for the entire partay. Even has a porcelain head. Sure the "eel'inator" takes up some room (as well as battery) but he says it's all for our own good.
The net, net...I don't think we need worry about camping.

I was still s#^^^^^&g wind like I just ran a 10 mile road race when I got back ashore.
It's no %$%$%$%$ing joke.

Been there done that! Once had a guy follow me almost two miles down the beach at Montauk because he thought I was in trouble. Finally the current let up enough for me to swim through it. I thanked the guy profusely!
