Repowered
The old power plant was getting tired and after a couple of repairs this season I decided it was time for out with the old and in with the new. Hung a 2011 ETEC 200HP on the old girl.
With that so-called "hurricane", i did not get much time on it until this weekend. WOW I am impressed. Just as quiet as any 4-stroke, great on fuel, and the boat moves like a rocket.
Lots of high tech safety stuff. The engine won't let starter engage while its running (cause you can't hear it running). All the overheat protection, but thats nothing new.
No maintenance for 3yrs or 300 hrs... -no plugs-no LU lube-no babying it-no need to take it to the shop for anything, just run it for 3 or 300.
More time on the water is the best thing for me, confidence to get out to the bank a few more times.
This engine even winterizes itself. A quick sequence of the throttle and ignition and it does its thing. Oils itself, runs up then down and oil fogs itself and shuts itself off. I can do it at the boat ramp on the pull-out. I would just fresh water flush through the port when i got home and put it away, no need to even take the cover off. (Not like I'm in any hurry to put her away), but when the time comes---it's pretty cool.

Congrats. The winterizing thing is a pretty cool feature, especially now that I'm doing the work myself on my boat.

nice motor. How is it compared to a 4 stroke of similar size, price wise?

I honestly don't know.
I did not even consider a 4 stroke due to the weight.
When my boat was made in 95' there were no 4-strokes.
IMO older boats are just not made for; and won't perform correctly with
a 4 stroke. I've seen this to be true in some buddies older boats.

Great choice for a powerplant. Light, fast, fuel efficient and quiet.
