Striper Swipers

Back before our S-B Night Out we decided to have a collection for the MSBA Striper Swipers which somehow got derailed the night of the event and I forgot to make more mention of it than I did.

The Striper Swipers is a MSBA sponsored fishing club for teens. Part of their funding comes from raffles (of which there will be one at the MSBA show - see below) and the rest from tackle donations... For those of you that didn't get a chance to donate some plugs or rubba back at the S-B Gala Event of the Century, I'll have a box at the show for that purpose. If you can't make the show and still want to do a little something for the Swipers, shoot me a PM or E-mail....

Also to let everyone know - The Striper Swipers will have raffle at the show to help fund their events....

Hey Van - which S-B members are active with the Striper Swipers?

Thanks,

John

How about remembering that batch of stuff I gave to you a while back? that will start the box off so not to be empty.

Talking Kids still need help !!!

BUMP:

I have had some generous offers from some SB members here.
Thank you very much.

Again whatever you guys can do is greatly appreciated.
You can get stuff to John, or bring it to the MSBA show(if your coming) and give it directly to the juniors at raffle table.
Doesn't have to be much..., a plug, some line, a boat, motor and trailer,,,,whatever......

The table will be set up in the mall itself in a center area, NOT downstairs in the expo..

Please stop by and support the little guys and gals.
We currently have 35 junior members and need funds to keep it
going for the kids.
The raffle is the best way to raise $$$ for them....

Let me know !!!!!
Thanks
V.

What kid of fishing are these kids doing? Salt or freash? I don't do much in the way of plugs and platic but I have a ton of lead. We make are own sinkers I have 3,4,5,6,7,8 oz bank sinkers, I also made a bunch of round head Jigs and my daughter tied the hair on them. The glue is a little mesy but they work good. I think I have a spool of Big Game 20# I have switched to all spider wire now.
So are these things worth me donating? I will bring to the show on the 22. What booth do I bring them to?
Thanks Macojoe

Macjoe:
The emphasis for the kids is saltwater (striper fishing) with attention to sportmanship and conservation. But as for the raffle, any item that a fisherman/woman might want can go on the table, and I'm sure someone would be glad to win it.
Weights, line whatever would be great. bring whatever to the juniors raffle table which will be located in the main mall (upstairs) the show is in the basement. Thanks. V.

Salty:
Some lures would be great. Thanks.

You guys rock.

FishGibbs:
There is some info on the MSBA juniors on the website
www.MSBA.net More will be coming.
BAsically it is part of the MSBA but oriented for kids. We meet once a month in Quincy. WE have speakers or presentations, fly tying, videos and some snacks also. Roger Brousseau is a charter captain and is president of the juniors. He always shows teh kids and us something interesting, This is the fist year of the the revived juniors club, and we already have over 30 members. We went to the aquarium last month by commuter boat, and are planning some field trips and outings (complete with fishing) in the warmer months ahead. If you come to the EXPO just ask at the members table. and stop by the juniors raffle table and ask.

I will be around most of the day saturday. The people involved will be wearing "striper swiper" t-shirts. easy to spot..Hope to meet you.

Macojoe & Van,

If Macojoe is going to donate some naked jigs, I have a donor who wouold donate the paint....Idea is not to raffle off the lead, but to have the kids learn to paint theior own jigs. It would go along woth the hands on stuff Roger has been lining up. Macojoe, if you are into this idea, you could even be the one to come up and teach the kids. Anyway, I am only the club President, keep going with Van, I just wanted to make the suggestion.

I'll be at the juniors raffle table for a while, but not all that day (saturday).
I'll remind you the friday before the show. But you can bring any donation to the table and give it to any adult on duty.

Ok I had some that my son did for me that work good but he hung them up and the glue ran down to the heads a little. But I am game to bring some naked jigs. I will pour them on Wed. My mold pours 1, 1 1/2, 2, and 3oz. That is 4 per pour so I will do 10 pours that will give them 40 naked jigs in that size range. I will also bring a spool of Berkly big Game 20# and what ever else I can find.
See ya at the show
Macojoe

Just go to the juniors raffle table upstairs in the mall. I'll be there at opening time ~ 10 am.

Thanks,

You da man.

If any SB members have stuff they can part with it would be a great help to the juniors division of the MSBA. Just bring it to the table....These kids are our future.
