*((%#$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats that foul smell in the garage?
Its the stench of 2 dozen rotten eels! I picked them up a week ago, had the aerator running, changed the water on Saturday after I returned a few survivirs from a fishing trip. No clue what the hell happened. Maybe my aerator cant handle that many, I usually just get a dozen or so. They survived last week, maybe a few died and polluted the water, it was really warm yesterday? No clue, but its a waste of $40+ and now Im SOL .

How big is the container you are using? Did you lose power? Also, how warm does your garage get?

RIJIMMY, I know how you feel. Had the same problem when the city switched to a Chlorimine solution in the water and lost a dozen a couple days after the switch.

Next I kept them in my live well on the boat with out live well pump running, lasted for ever changed the water every day no aerator. Bought another couple of dozen, left in live well, was working great, that is until I put a half dozen live macks in with them, docked the boat and was going back out about 3 hrs. later. Shut the livewell pump off went and did what I had to do, come back to boat and everything was dead. The macks must have sucked up all the oxygen and that was in a 55 gal. drum.

Its @ 15 gallons, Ive keep eels alive in the middle of the summer in my garage so I dont think its the heat , I think that a few died and the water became rancid. I should have check on them Monday. I usually can go 3-4 days before changing the water.

Shame on you.

Redlite used to be the only person I knew who could, in one fell swoop, execute an entire colony of eels.

My advice is to sell the boat, forget the live bait thing, and pm me your mailing address so I can get a couple plugs in your hands. Leave the eel fishing(and killing) to the professionals.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

I lost a dozen eels last month. I keep them in a 30 gallon rubbermaid tub with 2 aquarium powerheads. Have done so all summer with no problems, then for some reason this whole batch just died at once.

It is amazing how fast they stink, they couldn't have been dead more than 12 hrs or so.

Yeah, it seems like there was a bad batch at one point.
Most eels come from one distibutor, me and the gang buy our eels at different places, but there was a batch that it seemed we all lost an ass load of em from at the same time. Sucked.

If one dies, it is amazing how quick the water turns putrid.

Get the cheap water conditioner at Wally world. We've had two dozen MONSTERS alive for weeks. in about 15 gallons. The water conditioner is key.

Mikey, I think you are are spot on as I had the same thing happen to me and I never loose eels. I have 3 aquarium pumps with 5 stones in a 30 gallon tub in back of my garage. North side cool and dark.
I think there was a bad batch that were sick.

No boat, back in the suds.

Now you're talking

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.
