Penn Live Linner VS Shimano Baitrunner
i have used a older Shimano Baitrunner, but i was wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to use both the Live Linner and the Baitrunner and was looking for some feedback on them.

have them both. The penn live liner drag, while I like the design concept better it breaks down often. I send in the reel every season and it still craps out. Terrible from the surf, will not last 3 weeks. From a boat you might get more use out of it. The shimano has never failed. IMO the new shimano is the better reel.
(I wish they would make a platinum series baitrunner though)

Between those 2 I would stick with the Shimanos. However, I have been using Okuma Coronado baitfeeders for the past 7 years and I have never had an issue and they are 1/2 the price of the Baitrunner.

The Shimano 8000D is the best reel I've ever owned. period. I've had the penn ss series', the fin nor ahab and offshore, nothin beats this baitrunner if u keep it clean. And my brother has the live liner and would get the shimano if he did it again.

I've got a 4500 and 3 6500 Shimanos and no complaints, they take a beating and keep on ticking.
