Coming to a store near you! (maybe in a few years)

This eventually will be big. The fuel economy, reliability, longevity will be huge.

Just a beginning but glad to see someone pursuing it.

Maritime Engineering Group, Inc - Vision 3.0 L Specifications

The soundings artical mentioned it is designed to run 8000 hours @ 80percent power before overhaul. yeah baby!

Not the first diesel outboard.
Forgot who was making them before.

Never really took off.

They didn't spec HP to weight but its nearly 200lbs heavier than the equivalent Verado?

Missed this: Production Starting Early 2009

Really? what store?

It's early yet...to say it will not develop into a mainstream technology is nonsense. They said the same thing about 4 strokes a couple decades ago! It will not happen in the next year or two but decade or two.

Yanmar made a 27 and a 35Hp model. They were pretty popular down under but not sold in the US. (pollution levels?) I actually bid on one on ebay last winter but didn't win. I wanted it as a kicker for my boat that I could keep in the bilge and if I needed it in an emergency I could drop it on a bracket I would mount to the swim platform

The early ones will be big and ugly but they will demonstrate proof of concept. Even so, the tests of the 300 Hp model burns less than half the fuel of other 300Hp's.

I hope someone starts thinking about atomic power...that is what I want!!! one fuel up per 30 years.

who pays 705$ for their 100 hr service?

and if your averaging 26 gph over the course of 1000 hours you're basically going WOT 100% of the time. Good luck to you if that's what youre planning on doing. My 225 at 5500rpms is around 18gph.

The only thing people think of with boats and "atomic" are Atomic 4's

Aka Atomic bombs.

I'm not a smart person. Most anybody can sell me anything. In order for them to come up with fuel consumption they have already run test.

While testing,

What is the pitch of blade. Did they use stainless? How many blades? What were water conditions, flat, chop? What was wind velocity at time of testing? What was fuel load? How many people on the boat?

Please get back to me, I'm very interested if you can provide this info.

The only difference between a 4 stroke and an evinrude e tech really is cost more for 4 stroke, Us poor people have to go with the e tech. I'm still waiting for nuclear power.
