Islamorada and Key West next week.

Hi all,
Does anyone have any info on whats in season this time of year in the Keys?

There is a large group of us heading south next week and want to book a charter.

The captain we have used in the past has retired. We have also gone earlier in the year, so I am stumped as to whats around in December.

Grouper?
Mahi?

Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
C

I had a box of animal crackers the other day. The box said 'do not eat if seal is broken.' I opened the box, the lion was OK, the elephant was OK, sure enough, the darn seal was broken.

CAll Mike Weinhoffer of the Compass Rose - he's got a 36 foot yellowfin - a great captain. Action in Key West right should be blackfin tuna (water temp pending of course), wahoo, probably a little early for kingfish, possibly some sailfish action ... and of course the reefs are probably doing well - snappers, groupers, jack, permit, spanish mackerel. Mike is one of those captains who does what it takes to get fish. I think his website is something like fishingkw.com. I've been fortunate to have fished with him on a number of occassions - he always produces, and when I lived down there, I used to take journalists to help promote fishing in the Keys with Captain Mike, and he never failed. Check him out, give him a call, he will shoot straight with you.

Check out captain Jack carlson and his website twoconchs.com been using him every march for 10 years. He owns big time bait and tackle at MM 50 in Marathon. Great guide fishes very hard.
