Maybe

The fish recognize you and are keeping a safe distance away.

Optical illusion,
Watch the longest cast from the other side, they can't reach either.... Last year we were seeing the same thing, a friend could reach the what looked like the middle and the fishermen on the otherside were casting approx. 20 yards from him. And yes, the fish were blowing up in that 20 yard space!

This is a piss poor excuse for coming home empty handed all the time.

I've learned to just tell people I wasn't fishing that day when I miss out on a blitz which is, by the way, very common for me.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

I recommend fishing with Iamskippy, you will feel like a champion longcaster after watching him cast!

We tried to outsmart them one time and one of us was on the mainland side and one on the cape side. Honest indian the fish were right in the middle at the widest part of the Canal.!!

When you're making the longest cast perceivable with your setup you may be drawing the fish to that area.
Try making half that distance cast and when the fish break at say 3/4% cast then you cast at 100% for the presentation.

Attach your line to one of Slip's jigs, have someone untie it from a tree on the other side, than work your offering back. Simple.

newegg.com $29.99 Free Shipping. You could even pretend you are an Admiral as you command the ship across the torturous canal waters to strategically place your plug.

That little thing is going to look like Victory at Sea meets Whirlpool of Doom in the canal with a bunch of White and Gray squawking Rodans swooping on it.

Like I always say being lucky enough to pick which side to fish on, early morning plug fishing, every morning has as much to do with catching as anything. Right place, right time. Flipping a coin is as good as any. I did it one year and it payed off well for me, next year not so well so I gave that up and now as I approach the bridge in the early morning dark I let go of the wheel and let the truck decide. Pulls to the right Boston side, pulls to the left Cape side. That's why I don't get front end alignments, it cramps my style.
