Braid cutting pliers - who likes what?
I've been using a pair of Rapala long nose pliers for years and they've worked great but they don't cut braid worth a crap any more.
Aside from the Vanstalls, which IMO are severely overpriced, whats comparable for a decent price?

Before I picked up my old school 8" black VS pliers which cut braid like butter, I always carried a few Fiskas kids scissors.
Here is a thread on the subject:

Scissors work nest. I have nickel plated needle nose pliers with a cutting section. They work good on braid too as the electroless nickel is very hard and also protects the sharp edge from rusting.

I second Hansom. I have used them all season, rinse them rarely. They have no rust and still cut braid flawlessly. My only complaint is the sheath that they come with. I have been through two of them. In both cases the loop that the wader belt goes through broke at the seam.

Most plier sheaths are garbage, get a hold of commando surfcasting, they will take care of you.

Have a braid/mono cutter in my Sargent pliers that works well but is starting to rust up. The cutting blade is replaceable and they came with a spare so ill have to swap it out soon.

Cabelas Advanced Angler's are decent. About the same price as the Hansom's normally but I've seen em' as cheap as $30.

I've been using dr slick Pisces pliers for the last 4 seasons, one pair will last two seasons of hard abuse, about 40 bucks. Throw the sheath and lanyard away and upgrade to a dragon tails or other lanyard and a commando or as elite plier sheath.
Great pliers for the money.
I swim with mine and they are always wet, I don't take the best care of my gear either so the fact I'm getting 2 seasons or more out of them is worth the price.
The Hansom pliers look great, might be my next pair.
