Or a $15 chart. Sad and totally avoidable

I was out on Cuttyhunk when I was a kid and remember standing out on the bluffs looking towards Nomans and wondering " why is the QE2 not moving out there??? She had run aground. I can't imagine what could have happened.

The Captain screwed up....came in way to close to shore. Supposedly to show-off. 150 yards from shore for a ship that size...near rocky shoreline.....not to bright
also, I know they say the Captain always goes down with the ship...but I never realized it was actually a law. The Captain is being charged with abandoning the ship before all the passengers were off

Big screw up! Running aground , the way the evacuation was handled. disgraceful Guy should never be allowed to captain a ship again. In fact he should be confined to row boats the rest of his life.

Hasn't this happened before with Greek Captains? Rowing from the scene?

I have seen the QE 2 go up between the island I think three times. It did graze an unsharted rock on the bottom, barely. That was probably what you were seeing Eben, when it was dead in the water. It is certainly and astonishing sight to see it moored off of Oak Bluffs. It was like it was at the dock the ship is so large.
