Ship owners sue CVS over SF Bay accident
CHICAGO (MarketWatch) - The company that owns a container ship that hit the San Francisco Bay Bridge five year ago, spewing 53,000 gallons of oil into the water, is suing CVS Caremark unit Long's Drugs for allegedly selling dangerous drugs to the vessel's pilot, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Regal Stone and Fleet Management, who own and operate the ship, claim that pharmacists at a Long's outlet "recklessly and negligently" supplied John Cota with thousands of pills that marred his judgment and dulled his responses, the newspaper noted, leading to the mishap.
