Talked to a friend who fished the deeper parts of the sound today. Nothing great on the dukes, some dogs, and a few jumbo sea bass for the dinner table.

I fished there with a couple of friends sunday morning, I was one of 3 boats out there at 7:00 a.m.
We caught about 10 fluke in the 18-20' range, couple of skates and a few dogfish.
Around 10:00 a.m. I pulled out because now there was 41 boats on the shoal, the weekend warriors were everywhere, cutting right across the lines, one guy almost cast his line in my boat that's how crowded it was. Too much traffic for me to stay in one spot and the fish stopped biting anyways.
I moved to another spot not too far from there and in 2 hours we landed 33 more fluke all 20' and better! I was out of sight of the herd so it turned out to be a great morning, oh picked up 3 stripers in the hole around 6:00 a.m. on the way through, 2 keepers and 1 schoolie.
No birds working anywhere except the terns chasing shiners, I kept my limit on the fluke and released everything else. Nothing tastes better than fresh fluke!

Insanity is a long and winding road ... I think I finally made it there.
