Anyone here been to Belize in January?

Trying to figure something out for my winter break. I would want to fish, snorkel, and check out the rainforest and ruins. Would be going for 5 nights. Right now I'm looking at Tranquility Bay because of the beach snorkeling, but would appreciate any suggestions on other places and what to expect as far as spin-fishing goes. I would want to hire a guide for 2 of the 5 days. Thanks in advance...

I have been there in February and the place has amazing snorkeling. The Cays off the mainland are incredible. I am more than certain you will be able to have a good time there snorkeling and fishing the place is like an aquarium.

As an aside I was in Belize city, I believe. I did not fish as I was on a cruise. But the marine life was awesome.

Thanks. It's looking like I might need to split the trip between TB and somewhere on the mainland if I really want to see the rainforest. The DIY yourself options make TB really inviting though...

I would be in Ambergis Caye, BTW

Bart, check out Costa Rica. You can stay in the rainforest and on the ocean at the same time.

I would need some snorkeling/free-diving for this trip, so Costa Rica would be out. But I'm seriously considering going there in June for roosters from the surf...
