My New Backyard

A few of you know what I've been going through personally and fishing to say the least has taken a back seat so I could get situated in my new home. Divorce is in the works and I'm splitting the time with my son with my soon to be ex. We are parting as friends and I'm moving on. The most important thing in my life is my son and he is doing just fine and loves his new beach house in Green Harbor. Anyways, took a break from working this morning and headed out down to the beach and casted probably a hundred times before I could dial in a lure of their liking. Fish ranged from micros to this 39" 20lb racer. Must have caught a dozen before this hit and ran for awhile. Not the biggest by any stretch but for me it was a welcome to the neighborhood that I needed. Got to share the experience with a good friend who helped me land her in the surf and get her safely up on the rocks. Life is good.

Make the best of it all, and you are. Hang in there. Give me a shout if you want, I'll bring Ty down and we'll fish with the boys.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

A little solitude, nice.

Good luck and do everything in a positive light for your son as it can be real tough on a kid. See too many people screw that up because they can't see the forest thru the trees.

Good report! Stay in touch...

Stay strong brother. The boy is the most important thing. Nice to see you had some time to forget about life for a while.

Every step of the way I've had a friend pick me up and help me out. My family has been so supportive. My son is amazing. And now reading these reply's brings a massive smile to my face. Thanks guys! This neighborhood is healing in so many ways. It's all going to be good and better days lie ahead but for now I'm enjoying what I have(thanks mike) and living my life the only way I know how.

Ernie, you're a sick bastard and I love you for that!! Oh, by the way that relic of a reel of mine is still going strong and I've had it apart a few times cleaning and greasing it like you showed me. Thanks man, it performed flawlessly today.

Oh yea and Johnny, read the post for christs sake! I moved to Green Harbor in Marshfield!! The move is only a few miles from where I once lived with my ex but what a huge difference it makes in motivating me to hit the surf. 7 minute walk from front door to beach. It's no Ducketts point but hey I'll take it!!

Thanks again guys!!

you know that song phrase..... the answers my friend are blowing in the wind.

Well it's actually true.... i've found, and when you focus in on it... the sound of the wind
and calm the chattering Monkeys of your mind awhile.... Many answers lie within.

So just remember that any EMOTIONAL state you have is highly manageable
and adjustable..... you are .....what you think

sometimes you have to get it wrong to learn how it should be....
that's not failure....it's just a step in the right direction although it can be difficult at first later down the road looking back you'll see it was a way to learn.

Good luck in your NEW future... Use sound to beat stress
i like Tony Robins line... I can't, therefore i must....

I had no idea John, glad to hear things are working out and your son is good. I hope things continue to look up. I'd take a fish that size anyday, actually I'd be happy with any fish, glad you got into some.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

God luck getting back on your feet!

Sometimes the fish are there but not biting then suddenly it turns on. Sometimes its little fish biting but the big ones mixed in are not. I once cast plugs from my boat to bluefish all around me. Damned fish would follow the lure right to the hull but not bite. Bluefish no less!

Clammer hit it right on the head, the ocean really offers great serenity, take advantage when you can man. Sounds like you are handling things well. Hang in there!
