Smile lure and blue fish stuck in hand

i was fishing with a friend saturday night .everything was great .we caught 4 nice blues . in the morning we switched to loaded cordells. i hooked up on a blue .i got it to shore and while i was removing the trebble hook it shook and stuck me deep with a hook. we were both hooked .my friend managed to cut the fish free and took me to the falmouth hospital .i was put on a bed fully dressed in wet waiters and dry top.they were awsome.thank's to the team at the falmouth er

Best advice I ever got... "when bluefish are around, switch to single hooks and punched barbs. Mixing barbed treble hooks and bluefish is just asking to get a hook stuck in your hand." That advice has saved me from at least one trip to the hospital. Hope the hook didn't do too much damage. We've all been there.

would love to see a picture of you on a hospital bed in your wet waders with a "hot" nurse smiling next to you

BT: did you have a "hot" nurse in the ER for hook in leg?

That's why I ALWAYS use pliers for hook removal on bluefish, let them calm down, grab them with one hand and just go to work.

Glad you didn't get an infection or anything.

DITTO but you got to poke the barbs through first in order to cut them off!

Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet. They also help to remove the hook from the plug if needed.

Right where I got mine last year @ 3am with a 7/0 eel hook while removing from a 30lber. While on my way back to my truck for a ER visit, someone from this site (whom I never met before that morning) helped me remove it and I fished on. Bled like a stuck pig but nothing a little electrical tape could handle. Thanks again JF

Impressive but Doc still holds the record

3 hand hooks in a 24 month period, and he still has fully barbed triple treble hooks on his lures.

I heard Jeff bought a pair of Manley players thinking it might make him look a little more Manley.

Perhaps if I had a more attractive holster. The ballistic nylon is a bit utilitarian. Exotic skin? Might have to go custom...
