CT, NJ, NY, MA, RI AND Pennsylvania - Member Check In

Guys & Gals - check in if you are from an impacted area and your status. Some of our folks, especially those south and west may have been impacted pretty hard.

A lot of people probably can't check in so if you gotten a text / email / call from someone from an impacted area please post that they are OK or not.

This is one hell of a storm that clobbered a lot of people, if we can help out, give us a shout.

Good luck & God Bless

Thanks,

John

Good here in Somerset/Fall River area. The usual stuff, trees down, minor power outages, pole fire and transformer exploding. All in all we fared well.

I worked 38 hours straight at the fire station and there were some pretty wild stuff going on in Fall River. Lots of water and tree stuff, with yhe occasional roof collapse. A small fire in a Monk Temple and lots and lots of really stupid people.

If anyone near me needs a generator I can lend them one as I do not need it right now. (as long as you are close by) PM me and we can talk.

Good luck Chef....you have my # should you need it.

Still no power in Tiverton, though we hope to have it back tonight?

Nothing like down south though...

Looking at power back by tomorrow. We are in the 20% of wp that didn't get it back. Looks like a hack job was done on a side street near us. 3 utility poles went down on the same stretch. It wasn't that crazy to pull poles down like that. Someone screwed up putting them in for sure. They weren't old at all. And all probably went in at the same time.

I have a generator with about 10 minutes usage if someone needs to borrow one because power is out. It isn't a monster but can alternate running a fridge and an appliance if needed.

I'm on the N Shore of LI. Lost power but no damage. Still have gas for heat and cooking. Worked 24 hours straight from 3pm yesterday to today on the S Shore in a storm surge zone. Lost power at work at 7pm, then the storm surge hit around 8. Wow that water rose fast. Over a foot of water outside, and we were a mile away from the bay. We managed to keep most of it out, but I can't imagine how people living by the water fared. Especially those that didn't evacuate as ordered.

All good from Bloomfield, we are in a pocket of the state that was well protected (for reasons unknown to me) and we fared well. Heard from a buddy with a house in Old Lyme in with the Pavilion and water got high, but the house was left mostly dry.

Primarily good news hitting my cell phone today, which given the number of friends I have near the water, is a nice sigh of relief.

Everything was fine in Cumberland at my house. I did hear of some areas where downed trees caused blackouts but around me there were no issues. Things started looking bad about 4 PM but by 5:30 everything calmed down. You couldn't even hear the wind blowing. Just lucky to be in a mild band.

Got to feel bad for people along the coast and down in the NJ , NY , PA , etc areas. Flooding I think is the worst case scenario for the coastal people. No way to stop it if its coming. Best of luck to all on the recovery.

Marshfield seems good. I drove past Niko's today and he wasn't home (either working of fishing)

Powder Point Bridge in Duxbury is closed for repair (not sure if storm related).....

Anyone hear from Buckman? He is directly on the water in Marshfield.

We didn't get it as bad as most. T-storm that went through tonight was impressive...

I have been in touch with some friends in NJ and depending where you lived you may be ok. There are some places that are really bad.

Far worse than myself without power and a few trees down.

No damage in North Granby, CT although we have no power. Last years October snowstorm we were without power for 10 days so my wife is reminding me on 5 minute intervals that I never got around to buying a generator and wiring it up. I can survive without power but I'm not sure I will survive my wife's wrath.......

I fished out of Old Saybrook on the Saturday before the storm I'm sure it looks very different now.

All's fine in Reading( Ma.).. we never even lost power... some small tree limbs... lots of leaves ( neighbors damn oak).. I cleaned it up and chipped the branches last night in a thunder storm.. my massive pines made it through... pine cones traveling 50 mph when they hit the roof/house are unnerving though... I haven't been to Plum Island since the storm...Night shift sent me a text.. he's been on generator power since the storm...alot of storm damage and utility poles down in his area of Haverhill Ma/rocks village.. he's with out a land line ( phone) cable and power.... he moved his boat and vehicles to a nearby field only to recieve a pair of flat tires on his truck..Buzzards luck.

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Pascoag Utility did a great job trimming trees all summer. Never lost power. I have a LOT of trees down but in my back woods. All set for firewood for next year.

No boat, back in the suds.

I'm actually in Merrimac, MA now, we lost power for 4 hours but the genny kept us up and rolling! My folks came out unscathed out on PI, never even lost power. They actually gained some sand up on the northern part, it was a good thing they scraped the beach south of the center as the water took everything right to the base of the dunes. Some of those houses along Annapolis would have been lost for sure....
