South Portland Maine area

Hello people,
I am new to the forum and would like to ask for some info. I will be taking 2 young kids (6 & 9) surfcasting in the South Portland, Maine area. I consider myself an intermediate to experienced surf caster with most of my time spent fishing the South Shore of Mass. and Cape Cod. I am assuming it's a little early for Stripers up in Porland now. Does anyone have any tips for locations that would be suitable to take 2 young kids surf casting and still have a decent possibility of catching something. Keep in mind that these kids are out doorsy and have some fishing experience as well as hiking.

I appreciate any info that you folks can provide. If anyone has any questions regarding Boston Harbor, the South Shore of Mass. and or Cape Cod, I'd be glad to share some info with you.

Thanks in advance and enjoy the hobby !

You might want to try Kennebunkport. Goochs Beach area is nice. You can fish from the sand, the jetty at the rivermouth or in the river. If the fish aren't there by now, they will be soon.

Try Ferry Beach on Prouts Neck on the last half of the outgoing.

Thanks for the info, people. I'll report back after I try a place or two. May still be a tad early.

Hope I can return the favor for some of you soon. I appreciate the comments regarding the kids. I will be trying to instill not only some fishing skills in them but to also respect for the areas that we fish. Hopefully I can pull it off without taking the fun out of it for them !

Thanks again.
