Galilee seafood festival and tournament
Galilee seafood festival and fishing tournament this coming weekend. The festival is a blend of all that is Point Judith--sport fishing boats, lobster, draggers, net makers, fish plants. But also a ton of things for kids, face painting and what not. Sixty vendors will be there. Come on down.
I think the final sign-up for the fishing tourny is this evening. But I'm not sure.

Goose, as it turns out, my family will be camping at Fishermans Memorial this weekend, and the weather looks pretty good. Where is the festival taking place, exactly?

If you're camping at the Fishermen's Memorial Park then you won't miss it--it'll be right down the street in the port. I think they're using the parking lot by the boat ramp as the main area.

The boat ramp area is where I would have guessed. Thanks for posting this. We'll be there Friday noon till Sunday dinner, and we'll definitely be hitting that festival, eating some lobstah, maybe let my 7 year-old fish off the dock.
Spearfishing this weekend?

it is across the street from the ramp in the lots where the sportfish/lobster/party boat guys are. The weigh station is just west of the GI bridge on that very first bulkhead area.

Anybody know the tourney results? Seemed pretty windy.
It was also a great event for kids, I was at the festival both days with my 3 small boys, they loved the touch tank that the state biologists brought down, it had lots of fish and shellfish to entertain the kids. Plus the usual stuff like face-painting, supervised fishing off a dock, etc.
Love that part of Rhode Island...
