Commercial Striped Bass Fishery to Re-Open September 1
The Division of Marine Fisheries has determined that approximately 50,000 lbs of the annual striped bass quota remains. To provide an opportunity for fishermen to harvest the remaining quota while limiting the risk of a substantial overage, MarineFisheries is re-opening the commercial striped bass fishery one Sunday at a time, beginning with Sunday, September 1, 2013.

Dumb.... Why not just forego the 50K#? At least it will be on a Sunday, which carries the 5 fish maximum. So if you take an average 25# per fish, that would be 2000 fish, between 400 anglers who all max out.

Since they go over the quota by more than 50K lbs every year, why can't the DMF just say "close enough" this year??...

ya , add it to next years.

and while their at it, change next years daily quotas to spread the slaughter out so as not to flood the market with unsaleable fish

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

absoluty box and ice the last 50K.. there is absolutly NO benefit for anyone to allow those fish to spawn one more time..

A good run is better than a bad stand!

As far as I'm concerned 50,000 pounds is a rounding error when it comes to fishery numbers
