Yep ... God Bless America ... and my heart still goes out to all the victims and their families - as I am sure they haven't forgotten that day, not one second of it.

I can still see that shot of the first tower with smoke coming out displayed on a coworker's computer that day. Just the start of a very long day.

I hope PBS is running their documentary with all the survivors interviews. Everybody should see it on a regular basis. Should be required watching in the schools so this next generation knows the real story of what these people had to go through.

On September 12, I roller-bladed downtown to Ground Zero to give blood at Chelsea Piers which was set up as a triage center. Coming down the W. Side Highway there were tons of military vehicles and first responders rolling into lower Manhattan. Tons of people were gathered on the street handing out food and water and just offering support. One man had a homemade spray painted sign which read "You Just Made US Stronger."

It started when I was in the chair getting a haircut. Everyone in the building came into the shop to watch the tellevision. Had to be twenty plus people stuffed into the little shop. My barber finished, I paid him and looked at the TV and said we are at war, we just need to figure out who to shoot back at. This lady looks at me and says, "ya right". I wondered for awhile after that if her opinon ever changed.

Yeah,
I was thinking about this early this morning on the way to work. It was before sunrise (of course it wasn't in 2001). I walked past the spot where I heard Howard Stern first report it on the radio, and it brought me right back to the moment. It was like a flashback. The visual memory sucks at times like this.

It seemed like a lifetime away for me on an awful lot of fronts, with the exeption of the visceral feeling that I had in the car. I can still feel it right now as I type this.

I will also never forget; God Bless those who keep us strong.
Rick

Also grateful for all the heroes that stepped up that day - fire, police, medical teams ... all rushed in to help without a second thought, many to their own demise ... also the National Guard and the military ... the passengers on Flight 93 that stormed the cockpit of the plane (they all died, but they saved how many?) ... I read they are finally getting a memorial in PA near or on the field where it went down ... so God bless all the heroes as well that showed how they feel about the U.S. too.

We'll said and agree 100%. A good friend of mine's friend was on Flight 93, he was a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, his name was Jeremy Glick. He probably did some damage to the Terrorists.

A very difficult day indeed. I have such an empty feeling inside me all day today.Having lost some very dear friends in the FDNY that day made me bitter, even angry. In the days following I went down with a friend who volunteered his towing company to remove cars and bring them to N.J. It was the most horrifying sight I have ever witnessed. I went back some weeks later for firefighter funerals, 3 in one day. I will never forget where I was on the morning of Tuesday Sept 11, 2001. I was building a house in Tiverton R.I. Wed-Fri I was in New York and I married the woman of my dreams on Saturday after noon. It was a great ceremony however it was over shadowed by the ruthless act of terror from a bunch of cowards. Traveling on Sunday was not so easy either. We were supposed to travel to Mexico, but international flights were shut down. So were domestic for that matter. We waited at T F Green for hours until they opened. We flew to Houston not knowing if Mexico was in the cards for us. While booking a room in Houston we were notified they were opening international flights. We eventually made it to Cabo with out incident. Today, as with every anniversary, I went to the Battleship in Fall River for the memorial. (that is the official state site for 911) Now all I can do is reflect on the day and all the guys I miss so much. Til we meet again my FDNY Brothers....til we meet again.

Paul, the Pakistani citizen who told us where Bin Laden is, should be hailed as a hero. Instead, this administration watched as the Pakistanis convicted him of treason and threw him in prison.

The Benghazi attacks happened one year ago. Zero terrorists have been brought to justice. Zero state department employees have been held accountable.

To many Americans, not just Raider Ronnie, American supremacy has been greatly diminished in the last few years. Some of that is due to things outside of our control, some of that has been a direct result of the policies implemented by the current administration.

I remember being home from school due to a cafeteria fire two nights earlier. I was a senior at the time. My mother woke me up and I rushed downstairs to just catch the second plane crashing into the tower. What a horrible thing. Even worse, when we all went back to school a couple days after 9/11 we were informed that a fellow student's mother was a flight attendant on one of the planes that struck the tower. We really felt for that kid and his family. A decade in the past, but the memories are still very strong.
