threw off the skunk last night...

After a few strike-out outings at the canal, I thought I'd give it one more shot (out of frustration).
Light winds, full moon and a chance to wet a line drew me out for a couple of hours last night.

The first spot look perfect (or as perfect as the conditions would allow) and it looked like another skunk outing for about the first hour. I threw a multitude of lures, dark and light colored, swim shad and slug-go and curlytail. It wasn't until I put on the silver flecked slug-go that I got my first hit. It pulled like a definite keeper but threw the hook after about 10 seconds. That was all from spot #1

Moved to my second spot and started with the same slug-go and after about 10 cast I hooked into a saltwater freight train that apparently came into the shallows to feed and headed back out to the deeper water. It wasn't lost and was approx 44".

After a quick unhook and release I resumed casting with a new slug-go and a couple of cast later another torpedo hit the offering and gave a good fight before succumbing to my relentless power (sounds good, huh?) When I go to lip the fish I noticed that it had hit my jig in such a manner that it pinned its lios together. After unhooking the upper lip and then the lower, it was also released to fight another day.

Then the current REALLY started screaming west and I headed home!

I am a legend in my own mind!
