Broken rod
I wouldn't be so pissed if it had happened with a fish on but alas it was the trunk that did in my custom Rainshadow 1088.
The trunk came down on it oh so gently so I didn't think anything of it until I walked around the car and saw that the pole was in the trunk latch. When the trunk came down the pole was in the perfect spot and it tripped the latch and it cut the pole like a tree pruner.
Talk about a monumental meltdown!I eventually got over it and used the backup and when out and caught absolutely zilch.
Maybe this should in the grumpage forum.

May your pole RIP!
I may be one of the few that broke a pole by fighting a fish. Here is the before and after Pic.
BEFORE
AFTER with 150 lb tuna still on.
We got the fish to about 15 feet from the boat hand lining and using the broken pole. Needless to say, we did not boat the fish.
