Tautog wish
I wish there a few juice tog threads goin, one thread with just close up's of tog teeth... especially those 8 plus #'ers with busted teeth to get our blood boiling. The tog fishing has always been smokin in our waters. I was bangin'um from shore all over RI and MA since I was a kid,, I'm just tryin to say you dont need a boat to get into these fish fall or spring. I hate to be the odd ball but is anyone else ready to start tog fest early this fall.

Saw a bunch of guys fishing for them along the islands last couple days.
Nice fish Bobby.

Don't see why you need to wait for fall; there are some good BB
spots where you can slam 'em all summer, at least from a boat.
That's when I do my best.

It's taug season when the Portogy bait shops take on the stink of green crabs. You can smell it a hundred yards down the road before you pull into the parking lot.
BTW , my mother's parents were Portuguese immigrants in the 20's so no disrespect intended.

Do Asian crabs stink as bad as green grabs? Bait shops in general have their own aroma but those green crabs in a big cardboard box crawling and she ite'ing all over each other stink worse than anything!

Fished Wednesday off Westport and went light with tideltail jigs due to shallow bite and very small crabs, was none stop action until I ran out of crabs. Switched to small jigs-plastic for a few more and then beat feet; 1 foot or less my ass. Nothing big, but if I had a license I'd have filled my limit easily. I found the bite with the small jigs and crabs not much bigger than the jig almost a gimmie, first bite set and I hit fish almost every time.

Commercial bite is limiting out 40 fish a day. Its an easy fun fishery. Imo That whole Asian crab vs green is a crock, a crab is a crab MIKE

The Asians don't stink nearly as bad. I put them both live in a bucket in my second fridge and when the big greens die they stink like hell. When the small Asian crabs die you don't even notice. Plus you don't have to deal with the stinky mess cutting them. So much cleaner. Perfect bait for jigging
