freshwater outings in the fall...
If you can't / don't want to get to the salt, give fresh a chance for what could be some exciting fishing!
I have found that within the past week the freshwater action has picked up dramatically. It's probably directly related to the "fall run" phenomenon but I don't care as the fishing has been great!
I have been fishing a number of spos, some old and some new(er) and the change from summer to fall has made me itching to get back!
I was fishing a stretch of the Sudbury river Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and the bass and pickerel were viciously attacking my rubber frogs and rubber worms. Add to that the visual display of 20-40 lb carp jumping, and you can see why I want to go back!
(Kind of makes me want to hold off from doing any ice fishing prep until AFTER Thanksgiving!!!)

Decided that this past weekend would be it for this year, as I will nned to start prepping for ice season.
Hit the Charles in Dedahm on Sat no luck but a good day on the water nevertheless.
Hit the Sudbury in Wayland on Sun and managed a couple of fish. Got a number of photos that I took this fall that were pretty good for a rookie shutterbug. I figured that since I wasn't always going to be catching fish, I might as well snap a few pics along the way. I post them when I get a chance.
One thing I noticed is that we are definite need of some serious rain!
Water levels are low, REALLY LOW in most waterways. Sure we'll get some of that back during the winter, but I don't want to have to deal with rain and snow on top of the ice when I'm trying to fish. It just makes it messier and unpredictable.

My brother lets me store mine in his shed up in NH, so I'm bringing it up this weekend. Of course that doesn't mean I can't get one more trip in before it get stored. Luckily I have a NH license as well as a MA, and he lives near a number of waterways.
I'll swap out my kayak for my ice fishing pull-over shelter and jet-sled for the winter fishing season.

spelling is correct.
My goal is to catch a "derby-worthy" fish for the big derby in Feb up in Meredith, NH.
I have scoped out a spot from last winter that holds a lot of promise.
Other than that, I plan on getting some new anglers involved.

I just got my first kayak and my son and I went out yesterday for some fall action. We had a great time puling bass off the bottom. A new addiction is born. Some were smaller fish but this gut was right at 3 pounds.

My lastr kayak trip was this past weekend up on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. Woke on SUnday to 1-2 inches of snow and temps hovering around freezing. launched to a section of the lake that was "flat as glass" calm, broken only by passing sleet showers.
I bottom fished and managed to get a bucket load of perch, of course the bucket would be a child's sand pail as the persh were around 3-5" in length. I hit a small marina(no boats) and fished around the docks for awhile before calling it a day with a few small bass to end the trip.
There are big fish there, but they are harder to get because they are migrating from their summer/fall spots to their fall/winter spots.
Luckily I know where their winter spots are, so I should be ready for the ice!!!

Like the bridge photo, looks like a good carp spot.

I thought it might hold some decend fish, but it's REAL shallow.
There are fish there, but they're panfish.
Further upstream on the Sudbury River you will "run across" (literally) plenty of big carp.
There is also the other wildlife in the area as well, but you have to be lucky to see it (meaning looking in the right direction at the right time).
