Banksia Seed Pod pencil
So last month when I was at Woodcraft, these guys peaked my interest. I ended up buying it to see what it was like to turn. For those that don't know what it is; it's called a Banksia seed pod, and it's from the Banksia plant/tree in Australia. It's hard as hell, but once it's turned down a bit, it's really cool. As it is right now, it's about 7 3/4" long. I haven't weighed it, but it's pretty damn solid. It does however float, really well. Anyway, it's pretty messy when turning, and underneath all those little bumps is this red fur. But that comes off easy enough. Anyway, this is the pencil popper I've started to make, turned this last night.

That seed pod makes for a pretty interesting looking popper. I suppose you could epoxy the heck out of it (in layers) to fill the holes and make it a bit more aero and hydro-dynamic, but maybe the extra drag/bubbles etc might be good too!
Cool experiment.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.
