Night Surf Bag

OK Folks,

I thought this might be an interesting thread without any of us giving up a fishing spot or secret info. I know that I will learn from this thread and hopefully many of the newer members to the board will also.

The jist is that we have an empty Surf Bag and are about to fill it up for a night of fishing. We are only fishing in the dark and are fishig 9 & 10 foot surf Rods.

Most of us here will have a buggy full of gear but for this exercise we can only fish what we carry in the Bag or our pockets

The Bag I am filling is the medium size Canyon Surf Bag...I think that this is the average size Bag with 10 21/4 inch slots, 6 jig holders and two side pockets, one of which has a plastic box.

What musdt go in it for a successful night offishing.

Bombers (etc.), Needles, Darters, Buckies, Hopkins (or equivalent) and spare leaders w/snaps (pre-made) w/ teasers.

A lot depends on where I would be fishing and what the light/wind is.

Somtimes more swimmers and less of the others. Othertimes the opposite.

The three that I seem to reach for the most are the Yo Zuri Mag Darter, Mambo 7inch Minnow Black or blurple and Gibbs Danny 21/4oz white. Danny has been getting the job done for me lately on the beaches. I also throw a super strike darter into the line on a regular basis.

I'll leave the bag at home put some rigged hooks with 40lb leaders w/swivel in my waders pocket, and have a plastic jar hanging around my shoulder filled with eels.

BP,

With a dark night low to medium wind I like the Black Mambos and Blurple bombhas. If the are the 3 hook bomber then remove the center hook because it foul hooks on the leader more and becomes a bitch to de hook the fish due to numerous points and re hooking if the fish flips on ya'.
On a windier, dark night Black Mambo or bomber A-salt as big as you can find and maybe with a little bit of extra weight injected in to cut the breeze.
If the breeze isn't in your face then the smaller ones work just fine. Needles do well in these conditions too.

When it is a moon night same thing but lighter lures to outnumber darkers. The Olive/pearl Mambo is a sweet one. Pearl bomber is a standard.

I am off island tomorrow for the day and want to find some of Tattoos swimmers while I am over. I have NO experience with them but man do they look tasty.

It's a Plano, Wallyworld, and Redtop, not sure if Mike has them yet so maybe call him first. I got 2 of them, they got mesh on the bottom.

I use the blue over white at dusk into sunset, olive , olive over white, black, olive with black back...

Chuck all those plastic and wooden things, remove the separators, fill the bag with mackeral and herring. Stuff in a few weights and put some extra hooks in there too !!!!
