Pole numbers
It was funny the other night. One after another told me how they found no fish. All were watching pole numbers as they rode on the ditch.
Me I'm a dumby. I could care less what the pole number was. I watched the water. I'm peddling along an then I see a swirl. Good one too. Full moon an all you can see a lot. My brakes sqeek an I stop. Another swirl then another. I'm alone. Nice. Took a couple seconds or so to get down where it was safe to cast without breaking my neck. Ist cast with a white super spook. Nothing. Second cast an half way in slam the spook fell into a hole an I was on. She went out then back n forth. 50 lb braid an tight drad on a Saltiga an she was in fairly quick. 34 in an fat. Off she went to get bigger. Still alone next cast 38 in. 2 more cast nothing then a 24 in on the teaser. Another cast an a double header both in the low 30 in range. Love my teasers.5 fish later the current picked up an it was over. A freind watched the last 2 fish an enjoyed the show. He asked how'd you find the fish. My reply I didn't give a damn what the poles looked like nor their number. Found the fish by watching the water. The fish don't give a damn what number is on the pole just how much bait they can corral. Was fun and listened to many storyies of wo the next day by those that went fishless. Night is the place an try to mix it up. nothing over 38 in but it was fun.

Nice fishing Ron. No bike for me yet. Will need to find one or make one. Too busy fishing right now. A good December project.
Walked to one of "my poles". I did not hook up but saw a few fish on other peoples lines in front of me. There is always tomorrow and I will be there. Just great to be out, very light fog and clear overhead. Nice moon on it's way down. Very different from yesterdays dense fog and clouds. still very few things as beautiful as being out between 4 and 6.

That's like when someone asks you "Where did you get that fish?"
You reply "In the water, where else?"
Sometimes people get fixated on the wrong signs, looking on land for signs of fish in the water!
Great story none-the-less!

Good story. I think the poles with lights may have made a difference before they went to the LED's...

LOL the only way for the younguns to understand. You talk about multiple 40's an 30's in a night they can't comprehend that many large bass in the lb range. Old times are past.
