Sorry to hear the news, he lived a long full life for sure. I was amazed by his drive to fish at his age. He sure knew and passed along a lot about fishing, legend for sure. We will all miss him
RIP Stan

Not sure if i know this fella or not. HE looks like a guy that i used to see at the canal all the time at the bulkhead near the old fish house throwing light tackle. Had a blast fishing with him one night bout 10 years ago killing the Pollack. I haven't been down there as much the last 5 or so years. Always looked for him at the same place. RIP.

Everything is better on the rocks.

He had a great run. 92 years old when he passed, and he fished almost all the way to the end. He was still hopping rocks in his mid-80s. RIP.

Just posted an interview with Stan on our blog we ran few years ago in the SJ magazine.
I thought it would be a fitting tribute to a great man

That was VB's interview. Peter did a great job. Stan was the canal in my opinion. Not many, if any left now. RIP.

Just a truly humble, generous man, Stan always had a story to tell, "Now, listen to this . . . " and the smart people always did. I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to meet him and learn from him.

Stan Kusia was the very personification of love for fishing, the canal, and the camaraderie they engendered. You couldn't help but feel inspired by talking to him. The pulse that sustained him did not come from his heart but rather from the ebb and flow of the tides and bass in the place that he loved.
