Korkers boa lacing system

Thinking abo7ut replacing my old korkers boots. They are lace up and I am thinking about springing for the korkers wit the wire boa system as opposed to the lace up type I have now. Does any one out there have experience with the boa system? I am particularly interested in how they work on a sandy beach and if and how difficult it is to clen out the boa system? Thanks Charlie also wonder if the boa would give you better support?

I haven't used that system but since the gripstud/wearbar / light boot standard - I love it

The boa system is horrible around sand. If u have to walk thru sand from water to vechile make sure u always keep water and a set of wire cutters in your car.

I just got a pair with the boa and have only used them lightly, but I can see the sand getting in the little dial thing and effing things up. I really do like the system though...

I use llbean boa boots for the canal and love them, easy on off and quick to adjust. Sand may cause some issue on occasion but the mechanism is easy to open if you have to replace the boa (I used vinyl coated stainless steel leader by Berkley). If sand does get in and jambs the ratchet adjustment you may find yourself in a position where you may have to cut the boa (leader material) to get the boot off.

The BOA system is terrible in sand. If you get in a situation where you have to get your boots off quick you may not be able to get them off. Just too dangerous for me to ever own a pair again.

I only used them a few times but they were super convenient and fast. I think with a little discretion they would be fine but have a pair of wire cutters and repair kit just in case the shmit hits the fan

How long is it taking you mf'ers to tie your boots that you need to zip em? 😂

It wasn't long ago I was using duct tape and wire to keep the Korker sandals on after wearing through the side straps. I knew before I left the house so I grabbed some dikes and knew what I would have to do beforehand. Actually the wire(no boa)is quicker to get out of than any laces. I put it in the second hole and go up outside in through the top hole meet in the middle and twist (use which ever holes you want) You can snip or unwtwist the wire and they're loose and I'm out. I always found I would tie a double knot which slows down the exit and if I have to use a tool in an emergency to release the knot I would rather use wire cutter on wire compared to a knife with laces. Has far as the beach I haven't been there since my red balls and the seals took over and just didn't make it worth the trip with the ditch so handy.
I can't do a search on mobile but there has to be a thread about wading boots, if not maybe start one.

2 pair. both jambed sent both back . rather use laces. Wire is hard to cut in the dark after comin off sandy beach.

I've been wearing my Simms boots with the BOA system all season, (April to now) easily 75 trips on em, and I haven't rinsed them once.

No issues with the boa

I also don't fish fine sand beaches, if and when I do I'll stick to laces.

Super easy to get in and out of, they open really wide.

I'm using grip studs and washers for studs, with some gorilla glue on the auger, haven't lost one.

My buddy uses his in freshwater only and has busted two of wires on rocks fishing trout streams, takes about 10 minutes in the field to replace the wire.

If you walk thru fine sand I'd stay away from the boa

I'd also stay away from anything korker related, just my poor experience with them and customer service, if I didn't find the boxcar shoes for $25 on clearance I wouldn't own em.

I am not a fan of the BOA system for the same reasons as others. They jam up with sand and either become impossible to lock or to unlock. They are downright dangerous for the type of fishing we do IMO. I prefer laces. LL Bean came back out with studded boots and laces and that's what I use. Some ppl need more grip, I do just fine with them the way they are, except in bubbleweed

I hope they made them more rust/corrosion resistant than these.
And they were rinsed after every trip, look at top hooks where they don't stay in contact with the laces. The laces seem to hold the salt which in my opinion is the problem.


And does this wire setup really look dangerous



One time under and done..way faster than a double knot and no coming loose while in the water


Only requires one hand to do, try that with laces

I hate to say it but I love the cheepo zip on felt sole Cabella boots. I screw in some spikes to the sole. Super light comfy and life time buy back I think too!
