Hyannis Question - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

Gonna be in Hyannis on the 19th and 20th this month visiting some friends (non fishermen) who recently moved there. Bringing the fishing gear of course but I have never been there or anywhere other than the canal cape-wise. Looking for some insight for first light shore fishing. Strictly throwing lures, mostly topwater.

Will only have a two hour window at best. Go north to the bay or south to the coast? Is there an easy access beach or other area where I can park and trek to and find fish?

Just a thought. You are a stones throw from Bass River and there's always fish there. Probably a 10 to 15 minute ride

Sandy Neck. Bay side. Walk and cast at night. Plenty of fish in the bay just got to get lucky to bump into them in the 7 mile stretch.

What Paul m said, easy to get to and easy on the eyes, no houses and all dunes... IMO

no problems might have to stop at guard shack and tell them you are going fishing but not a problem after 5. You will have high at 12 midnite and 1 am which is a late night but perfect IMO. 1 to 2 hours before high and 3 on the drop should do it and if you get a light to medium NE or a NW wind even better. Good luck I might even be out there myself.

I would make the twenty minute ride back to the canal since you are familiar with the area.

I will probably do the canal one morning but I like fishing beaches ( but I do not fish at night, just first light) so the sandy neck sounds enticing as well. Going to MV to play tourist ( I will be one) on the Saturday, hope Obama is gone by then.

Just got back from 10 days in West Dennis, overlooking the BR Bridge and heading back up tomorrow for an undetermined period of time (poor, old, stubborn, SOB Dad fell and he couldn't get up, so between his hospital stay, modifying his house some, not doing what his doctors say, plus the weekly chemo, he needs me around; couple years premature of the plan to declare Washashore status, but I'll take it).
Mostly nights on Bass River have a lot of noise, sounds like tail slaps, but I haven't connected with anything yet. Small blues around for fun, seen people catching scup and small fluke, decent quahog dancin' at the end of Ferry Street this year. A cousin with a boat got some big blues off Horseshoe Shoals, and another cousin the same at Bishops, but they said it was hit or miss lately. Didn't have a chance to hit WD Beach, but there's guys there tryin'.
(I thought I might glimpse an SB sticker on my daily CC Hospital runs, as I'm pretty sure I'm short cutting through the Guppy "Hood", but nothing to report there, yet, either).
