Putting it away for the winter
Hauled and pressure washed. Sprayed brown scum stain at waterline with FSR cut with water. Rinse. All gone.
But with the warm water this year, I have more barnacles than normal. Especially on the transom mount transducer. Any help in getting rid of them without damaging ducer?

no barnacles on mine .no need to repaint ....ever since they put in the tunnel to clean up the sewerage in the bay .whatever chemical they are using .is making it cleaner for humans .but destroying habatat [sp] for the breeding ground , the marshes & grasses & so many of the fish fry that part has been going down hill since it was put in operation .
I sure ain,t no doctor or have a PHD in water i& life in the bay ..............But ITS HAPPENING .I could write a essay of the negative changes I have seen in the bay .....don,t hold your breath waiting to catch a pail of winter flounder or steamer clams , or dig your own clamworms , oysters .go to the farms , && it goes on & on .Oh F/I I,m on a rant ><><>

Just a question Ross. Did you paint the transducer with transducer paint? I found out about this special paint from my marina yard manager and I have not had anything attached to the transducer in 2 years.
I'm way up in the back of Warwick Cove and we had 80+ degree water this year with no growth on the transducer. I used Pacifica on the bottom and my boat hull was essentially clean. I power washed anyway when I pulled but there was almost nothing on the hull. |

Nope. It was a new install and I impatiently just put the boat in the water..... I will be looking into anti-fouling paint for the transducer this off season, for sure.

You only need the special paint for the face of the transducer, the rest of it can be painted using your regular bottom paint.

That's a b arch Wayne,,, how bout that product used for the engine that is a pressurized can Of anti freeze, connect it to the wash down hose....

Where is the intake? Can you make it suck some antifreeze up into the system?

If you can get to the intake hose, stick it in a gallon of antifreeze and run the pump until the antifreeze fills the tank.

I can get to the pick up screen was thinking a plunger with a hose and hopefully it would seal or just buy a In Board Motor Flusher i'll re post when i try it

Assuming there is no check valve on the pump discharge, I don't have one. I just pour some red antifreeze down the hose then blow on the hose and force the AF into the pump, eventually some comes out the bottom intake screen under the boat. |

Couple different ways to do it. None right or wrong. Mine is accessible, and right next to the fuel filter, so I am going to be in that area come springtime changing the filter anyway. Given that, I have just disconnect the intake(and out take) hose from the pump, clean the screen, and run the pump for 5 seconds to make sure it has run dry. Then I leave it open, and dry for the winter. Years ago I used to pour some antifreeze into the pump with a clear hose and run the pump until it showed in the well. Just don't need to IMO if I have it open and dry... (always shocked me to see the antifreeze when I first used the pump the next year...)
