My turn
I got Lyme..... No wonder I have been so lethargic over the past month or two. Was up at 0430 this morning and couldn't even rally to go out on the boat. Both twins have had it and my son is being treated now for a second bout. I am supposed to get the meds this afternoon. Sucks.

Sorry to hear this, Ross.
Is it a confirmed or presumptive diagnosis at this point?
Hopefully the Rx cleans it out for you.
A downside of Cutty and the other Elizabeth Islands for sure.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

George, it is presumptive so far. Will get results but the tests for Lyme are not very good, as you know, and there are many false negatives. Found lump and rash up high in crotch. No one home, so sat bare assed on bathroom floor in front of wife's make up mirror, armed with tweezers. How's that for a mental picture.... Excision was less than textbook. But connecting the dots with multiple symptoms, my doc and I are coming to the same conclusion. Aches, lethargy, one or two nights of sweats, mental fog at work as opposed to a headache. When I told him that I had only spent a total of four hours on the boat this season, that really got his attention.
On the upside, it would really suck it those symptoms were only from getting old..... There are no meds for that.
And I could have gotten it up here on a jobsite or my yard as easily as Cuttyhunk. Will never know.

Damn, sorry to hear.
Have had symptoms before but testes turned up negative. Not certain though. And new tick borne diseases are out.

Actually, Ross, the tests are very good, just not during the early stage of the disease. ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5176185/)
Not an issue for you since early treatment is warranted based on history and symptoms.

Sorry to hear that Ross, I hope it clears soon. I have been pretty lucky between cutting fire wood and hunting/fishing that I haven't gotten it yet. A friend of mine has it bad and is allergic to the meds....very painful. Good luck Bud.

Oh man. I've been there and it sucks. However, itsngreat that you have put 2 and 2 together and will start the antibiotics. Eat lots of yogurt !!!!
I will say that there will be a day when you will feel like a million bucks and that's when you will know that you are winning the fight.

Diagnosis of Lyme should be clinical based on symptoms and proximity to ticks. Tests are unreliable due to the fact that they are based not on the presence of the bacteria but to the presence of antibodies. Any doctor withholding treatment based on Lyme tests is doing you a great disservice and putting your welfare at risk.
I could go on and on but please get Meds. You don't want to end up brain damaged like me.

Hope you get well soon Ross. I am absolutely paranoid of this (especially for my young kids) and I think for good reason.
And based on the title of this thread, I thought it was gonna be a big fish or something!
