Low tide exposures
Without giving away spots, I am going to share some areas I like to fish. No spot burns as most are accessible by boat only. By documenting areas at or near low moon tides, I better understand where I want to fish, as well as how to get into and out of these tight areas. (Last week I had TDF out at this location at night and pointed out the rock breaking water about ten feet away from us...) Not a lot of boats can follow me into a lot of these areas, but they could, if they did their homework... This particular location has some bold structure, with a few van sized boulders restricting the passageway. Tops of these boulders show the scars from having a close encounter or two with props and or hulls....
Sorry a couple are blurry, boat pics....

Those minus tides can give away many secret hiding spots for bass. This is not only true of rocky coastline spots, but also for beaches. The mega lows of last week revealed some dips and bars on a certain local beach that were newly created and previously unseen. By fishing the outflow of a bowl between these bars we were able to target opportunistic bass who were waiting for our plugs to sweep on by. Even though the September tides are not quite as extreme, we now know where this sand-structure is and will have this added advantage as soon to be migrating fish push bait in there.

low tide is best tide for these types recon missions... but sometimes it offers the best oppertunity to fish a structure that might be too deep on a normal tide... I've got a sand bar that 1/4 mile off of the main beach that under these extreme conditions has only inches of water on it during a minus tide... it rarely produces on an average tide.. but during the extreme.. it's money..
good post Ross... I'm going to dig around and see if I have some pictures of structure to keep the idea going...

Got out in the morning last week and that was the only plus side of the trip as I couldn't find the fish! Definitely really educational to see all that structure and I will be spending more time is certain areas because of it.

Dug up this old thread to add a photo I found on a local real estate listing. This is a favorite area that I have spent a lot of time in over the years. It was interesting discussing differences of home fishing grounds with Guppy over the weekend. Hope he sees this.

You would have been right at home where I used to fish before the stocks started to decline. My home port the last decade has been Westport, but when I first started striper fishing it was Scituate Mass and I had a milk run of ledges between there and Cohasset that looked very similar. Back then a slow day was 50 fish with a few keepers mixed into the mix and the fall run blitzes of bass and massive gator blues on peanuts were epic.

The first that came to mind reading this was Bob (got striper) , he'd move right in on that area...
Wow, that shoreline has striper written all over it...
That must be your place lower right corner of pic, hey Ross?

On a calm moon tide, take the time to snorkel your favorite spots sometime..
You will confirm some suspicions, and be completely shocked as you dispel others.

DING. That’s how I found lots of rocks on block. Some are way out and stay hidden very well.
Even if most people do get a peek at them they would never swim to them.
