Yellow Fin

I know this is a striper site, however I recently got some *free* tuna gear and want to go to the acid barge for yellow fin. The problem is I don't know how to fish the gear. Is there anyone out there that can help poor me.

what size is Your boat?
radar?
gps?
your going to need water temps and them thing may be closer that You think???
be safe
You may want to chunk it up and get a few flats of sea herring and butter fish
If You have a live well fill it with some blues if You can
happy shark catching

Bassmaster. The boat is a Mako 241. She has GPS, Water Temp, Radar, fishfinder etc.. I have a lot of reblel trollers, birds and inline dasily chains. HJoping to avoid the whole chumming thing if I can. May head out to the acid barge latter this week.

Duke,
You're unlikely to find yellowfin (never say never ) as close as the acid barge. Bluefin is a much more likely possibility. First thing you need to do is to get yourself a permit from NMFS. HTTP://www.nmfspermits.com I take it you want to troll? You'll need some very small lures. Small hex heads, cedar plugs, jet heads, rigged on 100-400 pound mono. Birds are optional. Rebels are probably not the best thing to use, the hooks are too weak. If they are through wire constuction you might be able to get by by changing hooks. Anything else feel free to ask.
