Maybe the comm guys are practicing conservation by not killing as many...….or maybe there are LESS fish to be caught and sold. More chickens coming home to roost.

No, it doesn’t work like that. Lots of years quotas aren’t met for various species. That being said, there are definitely less bass around. I’ve started shifting my charters away from bass towards other species

In RI they add any unused quota to the next season.

DZ & take off the overage <>< the fall season was 8 days because of all the monsters being caught at BI .&&&&& it doesn,t stop ….…...I,ve seen photos that I,m to the point .make it catch & release .. seeing the same boats /some charters .some doing double trips of huge cows laying on deck / day after day after day ….&&&&&&&&&&&&& they talk about commercial .RI has in ratio a small commercial quota … @ 5 fish per day only 5 days a week . where the rec are 7 days a week 1 per man but no boat limit ……………...8 men per boat & some charters are doing 2 charters a day ………..you do the math & many of these fish are 40,s 50,s a few 60.s & I know of at least one 70+
&&& the word on OTW is the RICBA is going to put in a request to the state that they continue to be special & in 2019 be allowed 2 bass per angler .they are trying to get us to believe they are hurting

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!

Not true; ASMFC does not allow "rollovers" of bass; check with RIDEM, i.e., has been discussed at latest public workshops...…

Really?, maybe they changed it. I could have sworn when i was on the SB advisory panel they carried quota over. Maybe now they just transfer it to another mode, aka from fish traps to R&R.

the BI and MTK fishing has been at the "stupid" level for years now..... the charters are hammering them every day; way worse than the comm take.

Bad year for comm fish on the cape. Hopefully It will still be open when the fish come inside on all the pogies. Probably global warming. Even the bluefish are wikid late this year. There are some good comm fish around but they come in, and go out. Tough to get them trained to come in on only Mondays and Thursdays.
This is the way a commercial season should be. Picked away at from all locations and not taken all at once from a few spots.
One of the best seasons for schoolies inside the harbor, Feeds every day since June. Whereas last year we had them for 2 weeks.
If they don't get the quota it will go back to an even million pounds next year. Usually it goes over slightly and they take that off the top for the following year.

That's the way I think too.

I went back to work mid Aug so am done for the year but had 2 great days locally my area along the beach. Fish on pogies, allot of fun. Of course some days they were there on non comm days.

I can name one particular charter captain that launches his boat at the pt Judith launch that relentlessly runs 2 groups per day, keepers for the crew, and dumps the carcasses right at the launch every time.

But I won't name him for now... just venting that the way he operates really sticks out to me over the years. hey... at least the money is good right ???

The only thing he would be breaking the rules on is if he is killing his and the mate's fish again, on the second trip.
There is no restriction as to how many trips per day, or customers per day.
It is a "per person" possession regulation. So if the boat goes back out again on another trip, with different people, they are allowed to kill one per person.
If the Capetian and mate have already killed theirs for the day. They are NOT ALLOWED a second fish.

A good run is better than a bad stand!
