Exclamation West Wall Access

Just saw this "somewhere else"....while I almost never copy and paste from one place to another, I think in this case it is acceptable and prudent:

I was just sent the following email regarding the "West Wall" - a very popular fishing location in Rhode Island, near Jerusalem:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<snip> a meeting will be held tomorrow, Thursday, Aug 28 to consider severely restricting non-resident access to the village of Jerusalem and the west wall fishing area. The meeting is at 6:30 at Narragansett town hall.

Please get the word out. Hordes of shore fishermen use this spot and some of us need to show up at the meeting. This must be stopped.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like another attempt to further restrict fishing access - this time they are targeting non-resident fishermen Bastages. If you can make the meeting or can contact anyone who might be able to make the meeting, it's tonight

<end of copy and paste>

Unfortunately, I can't make it, but thought you guys would want to know...........

Steve,
They've already severely restricted access due to a severe lack of parking. What else are they gonna due? They can't limit access to the beach.

Based upon my understanding from the local paper's and the ongoing issue, tonight's meeting is amongst many parties (the resident for & against more parking, SK, Narr police & town reps) to discuss the situation of ALREADY limited parking and access, not to further limit it. I also believe that, while the public can attend, it is not open to public comment.

I'm afraid this may be more resulting from all the more recent owners in the area and does not reflect the "Beach Cottage" atmosphere that people say has been there for decades...

If someone from here has the opportunity to go and listen to what is being said that would be fantastic. I have a little work to do and as much as I'd rather see for myself, I cannot make it tonight.

Steve,
Based on the article it sounds like thry're thinking about opening up access not closing it down.
