Alrighty....SLOW....Or Is It Just Me?

Hmmmm........ seems everyday over the past week, come about 12:30 PM or so, the pages here seem to start loading extremely slow.

I just timed it, and from the time I clicked on "New Thread" to the time I could start typing was 2 minutes and 37 seconds......and that was fast compared to a couple of threads I tried to reply to.

Viewing the topics and threads are a bit faster, but not like they are in the mornings.....in the afternoon, even just loading pages to view seem to take extra long.

John, I e-mailed you about this last week, and while it seemed to have improved the next morning, it still seems every afternoon, it slows to a crawl.

So am I the only one, are others experiencing this?

PS....just clicked "edit" to correct some typos, and that time it was 2 minutes and 45 seconds.....

And I don't think it's me, cause I'm not having this problem a few places "elsewhere".....

Steve,
Must be a router between you and the server, things are loading like lightning for me.

Bloo....while it took me about 5 minutes to respond to your post, I'm STILL trying to get the seltzer out of my nose and wiped off my screen......

John.....isn't there a DOS command I can type into the "Start... Run" line that would find where the hang up may be, as per Mike's post? I seem to remember that there is such a thing that can pinpoint the hang-up....

It's still loading slow, and as I said, for some reason, only in the afternoon....

Steve - open a dos window (9X start->run->command or 2K/XP 9X start->run->cmd) and type: tracert www.striped-bass.com

It should read the number of hops and the latency on each hop to the S-B server... Doesn't always work behind firewalls / NAT devices...

Okay.....First.....Chris....It's not just at lunch hour, it happens from about 1 PM on thru the night till I quit at about 7 or 8 PM.

John, ran that command, and saw 16 hops, and then 3 columns of numbers for each hop with varying amounts of ms (milliseconds?)....

But it was all greek to me, and it ran and dissapeared with no way of me capturing the data.....

I thought there was another command that would show something about dropped "packets" or something of that sort, and usually can pin down the particular server that I'm getting bounced off to get to yours that is causing the problem.....

Oops, sorry, guess I didn't mention that it kept up all afternoon into the evening....

Just my day for PO'ing people, I guess.....

So, since I'm on a roll, wonder what WeeWee and Pants Man are up to.....at this rate, I should be able to at least get WeeWee grumpy enough to be re-instated......

Or I could always go piss of Tim.....

Arrow neo trace it

download neo trace and you can save the data and see the number of hops easier -> its free to download
use google to find it and or screensavers.com has it too
