Sale

An F.Y.I for all those in a the market for new reels. On my extended lunch break heard a commercial on the radio that Decathalon (formerly MVP SPorts) is having a big sale with 20% to 50% off all fishing gear including reels. Their prices on Penns were always pretty good, but numbers were limited. Might be able to get some reel bargains.

The best conventional casting reels are the Abu Ambassadeurs (all , especially the Big games) and the Shimano Calcuttas (all) and the Penn (975). Just my opinion of course.

there is one on Rt53 in hanover just south of the hanover mall.

Take the mall exit from Rt3 and go south on Rt53 past the mall it is on the left immediately after the DunkinDonut

There are others strewn about.

redlite,

Thanks for the heads up on Decathelon Sports. I got a Penn 5500ss normally $85 for $68 but the best deal was a St Croix 8'6" M rod normally $155 marked down to $104 less 20% the final price was $83. It was like I paid retail for the rod and got the Penn thrown in for good measure. What an awesomely balanced combo for schoolies! Now I've got to sneak down to break it in.

Thanks Again

Roy

Braintree has a Baitrunner 6500 for $83. But not much else. Very slim pickens. I would have bought it but I'm broke for the next few weeks

KLMulder,

The Burlington store had a small cabinet with around 10-15 Penn boxes in it. I am pretty sure they had a 7500 (at least hanging on the wall as a demo) Worth a call. Ask for Alex. He is the manager of that department. Hope this helps

Roy, is that St. Croix a dark greenish color? I think I bought the same rod, got it for $120 from Bass Pro. I Love it, had some great times w/schoolies on it earlier this year,

RIJIMMY,

It seems to be dark green (I'm color blind) The same rod is listed in Cabelas (PSRS86M2) for $155, so you also got a good deal. I'm going out tomorrow to try it It seems to be perfect for schoolies and blues. Let you know how it went.

KLM,
I went to the Danvers store tonight and they had some Penn 7500SS left. I grabbed a 6500SS marked to 115 less 20%, ended up paying 92. Slim pickings, but a sale that's local to me too! Lots of Shimano Baitrunners left in the larger end, not the 3500 tho.

Thanks for the heads up!
