Great fishing with you again Mike and although it was a slow day for bass, I had fun none the less. Yeah I'll take a few blues if things are slow, but the bottom fishing was fun. I may be a closet blue fisherman, but your a closet bottom dweller. Looking forward to trying the fluke and black bass tomorrow night. Too bad about the parking ticket bud, really bad when you walk up to your truck and the cop won't cut you any slack. Let's hope he's a fisherman and never catches a keepa.

man it

was awsome out there tonight was calm with a little drift i was sitting most of the time casting eels the boat never moved, alot of moonlite though but that didnt matter i fufilled a promise to take the neibours out 2 adults 4 kids not a good idea if you really want to fish, though the kids after an hour lost intrest and went in the cuddy and played nintendo so it was us 3 me untangling eels for them to catch fish and they finally caught one left them with lasting memories to talk about

Not to worry

Don,
Not to worry! The fall run is just around the corner! Just make sure you dont have that braid stuff on your conventional after dark!! Remember the night with MrMacey!!!

I'm through with braids on conventional reels!

It's monofilament from here on in!

At night I'd rather have a spinner with braid on it for sure, but I love the sensitivity of braid and the castability too much to take it off of anything; at least until my winter fishing begins. The key to braid and conventionals is to really spend some time, which equates to backlashes and lost line, learning the limits of each reel and under various conditions. It also calls for a well educated thumb. I could possibly heave my big grub out as far as I can with braid, not without really dropping down in test. I'd spend some more time with the reels and practice before ripping it off.

I love the sensitivity of the braid myself, but have found it to be a very frustrating year trying out new brands...

Some of the common issues I've run into were breakoffs, backlashes, and braid getting tangled into the side of
the spool and also burying itself into the spool when retrieving...

Perhaps they will one day manufacture a synthetic material that will offer enough of a backbone to the braid without compromising its flexibility for casting distance...

I definitely do not want to put myself into a situation like I did when I was out with Mike & Russ by not having an alternative setup available for casting eels at night...
