Trump Flags and this new propaganda industry?
Ok I have assembled some of the let's say not your typical campaign law sign that until Trump is all we ever had.. I see them around town what's the message Trump supporters let's hear it. And I dont want to hear oh their just flags BS ?
I see it as nationalism cloaked in some twisted FU message to those whom dont agree with them or support Trump and very similar to Russian ones with Putin
So it seems Trump as taken all the steps below what's left?
1. Appeal to the fears and hatreds of a constituency that feels they are being wronged or marginalized by the governmental powers that be. In Trumps case, he played upon the average Americans ’ fear they were being ignored by their own failing government and industries.
2. Harken back to the days of historical pride. In his speeches, Trump shouted that America was once a great and powerful nation. And Only the Trump could make it great once again.
3. Portray yourself as an Outsider, as the only one who can unite the troubled nation and fix the country’s many problems. Play upon a divided parties of government, with their combativeness and stagnation,
4. Use contemporary platforms and techniques to convey your messages over and over again to the public.
5. Repeat lies often enough and the people will believe they are true. Lie about people, parties, countries, even religions. Facts that do not support the narrative are deemed ‘Fake’ and even unpatriotic or subversive. Your opponents actions show they must hate their own country.
6. Intellectuals and journalists were suspected of being Socialists or even worse, Communists! So discredit them as the “elites” Plant distrust with the populace in their own public universities, the Press, even the judiciary and voting systems …
7. Extreme Nationalism resonates with those who see themselves as disenfranchised, even if they technically are middle class. So the demagoguery and totalitarianism of Trump was ultimately seen as acceptable. The goal is not to gain 100% of minds, but 100% of Emotions –
8. Ethics, legitimacy and even religious decency can be ‘Back-burnered’ for the greater cause, sometimes for a generation. So bigotry, racism, xenophobia and sexism dont exist. . Only Christian values will help America. We all think bad thoughts in private, so why not mainstream them and shout it out loud? Or better yet, take to the streets and act upon them! We've seen this already
9. You need a Scapegoat to rally against. People who don’t look, think or pray like us. A particular race, religion, or faction who are the root cause of all the problems facing hard-working Americans In Trumps case, this was the Mexican and migrant Portray them as dangerous, criminal, and After all, who could trust such people? Why risk it? Better to round them all up and deport them!
10. Exploitation of PATRIOTISM was the ultimate ‘ace up the sleeve.’ Trump spoke with fanatical pride in front of rows of Americans flags even hugging them in front of fanatical cheering crowds. He demanded deference to HIS leadership alone. Paint the opposition an unpatriotic or better yet, Traitors! Hes call Obama a traitor several times
We accept the fact that seemingly good, rational and even religious people will sometimes blindly support Trump with a near cult-like belief that it is righteous. These flags are another step in solidifying that conviction

Of course you do. You see what you want to see. You want to see Putin (not Washington, Madison, Lincoln, Reagan, etc.) so you see Putin.
This is typical political rhetoric. You don't think Biden or most any other politician wouldn't do some version of this? Of course you don't. Dumb question.
2. Harken back to the days of historical pride. In his speeches, Trump shouted that America was once a great and powerful nation. And Only the Trump could make it great once again.
Hyperbole with a grain of truth. Which is what most political speech is.
3. Portray yourself as an Outsider, as the only one who can unite the troubled nation and fix the country’s many problems. Play upon a divided parties of government, with their combativeness and stagnation,
He was an Outsider to the political class, even to the other Republicans.
4. Use contemporary platforms and techniques to convey your messages over and over again to the public.
Name a politician who hasn't done this. This is standard politician fare.
5. Repeat lies often enough and the people will believe they are true. Lie about people, parties, countries, even religions. Facts that do not support the narrative are deemed ‘Fake’ and even unpatriotic or subversive. Your opponents actions show they must hate their own country.
That's what PeteF (and you) do--as well as most politicians. A lot of what Trump repeats is true. Especially about fake news.
6. Intellectuals and journalists were suspected of being Socialists or even worse, Communists! So discredit them as the “elites” Plant distrust with the populace in their own public universities, the Press, even the judiciary and voting systems …
Some were and are. The distrust in our public universities, Press, and the judiciary was and is already there--for a long time. And rightly so.
7. Extreme Nationalism resonates with those who see themselves as disenfranchised, even if they technically are middle class. So the demagoguery and totalitarianism of Trump was ultimately seen as acceptable. The goal is not to gain 100% of minds, but 100% of Emotions –
Trump is not an "extreme" nationalist. He is more of a reasonable, equitable one. He has stated that other nations should have a pride and preference for themselves. And that we should all have fair trade with each other. He is certainly not a totalitarian.
This sounds like PeteF wrote it. It's BS.
Again, another PeteF like lie.
Yeah, well Trump has been called a traitor several times. PeteF, and you, and Spence, say he has sold us out to the Russians. It is also hilarious that you've made a distinction between patriotism and nationalism, but now are subscribing to that he is or "exploits" both. Other than hugging the American flag (or humping it as PeteF claims) what's so different, Biden has flags behind him when he expounds? And WTF is bad about that?
We accept the fact that seemingly good, rational and even religious people will sometimes blindly support Trump with a near cult-like belief that it is righteous. These flags are another step in solidifying that conviction
|
I respect the flag. And there is a strong message in displaying it. Certainly is better than burning it or not standing when the national anthem is played.
Of course, hugging or displaying the flag could be a false ploy. No doubt, you believe that Trump is faking it. Of course you do.

I find it troubling that people think someone using Pro Trump or Pro USA symbolism is some level of negative Nationalism or Fascism yet are perfectly OK with Sovyet style Agitprop of the left. So it is OK for me but not for thee mentality.
I don't have (major) issues with the relatively numerous Trump flags & signs in my neighborhood or the relatively few Biden flags & signs (yes, I saw a Biden 2020 flag, once). People are expressing their rights.
But like how 93% of protests were peaceful and only 7% were malicious rioting, looting, and vandalism I am going to assume that 93% of Trump Flags and Signs are from peaceful people and only 7% of Biden flags & signs mean rioters are living in their basements.

I knew the blue comments were coming, getting tougher to play defense isn’t it
According to Michael Cohen, Trump held a meeting with prominent evangelical leaders, where they laid their hands on him in prayer. Afterward, Trump said: “Can you believe that bulls--t? Can you believe people believe that bulls--t?”

I think the issue is more basic than that, it’s simply that many people look at Trump and the flag as a contradiction.

And that is the rub. Those people will condemn those who's views contradict their own as evil or deplorable.

I have no problem with anyone putting a candidate sign out on their lawn, it’s when the message takes a low blow shot at anyone with an opposing view I have a problem. So in my neighborhood there are a mix, but one in particular I think could make your next door neighbor pissed says make the left cry again.

Some push it (both sides, Wayne). there is a guy that has a Liquor, Guns, Bacon, and ... flag flying. Worth a minor chuckle, but otherwise tasteless. Guy a few doors down flies a BLM flag.

No, but I know enough of history to know what starts with marxists riots, breaking stuff, demanding what is acceptable speech, and redistributing property doesn't end there. BTW - stuff that predates the cold war.

One man went to church today. And then visited his son’s gravesite.
Another man golfed & rage tweeted today. And then his campaign mocked the other man for visiting his son’s gravesite.

On Sunday morning, Trump was urging the harassment of Steve Jobs’ widow in a desperate attempt to distract from the corroborated facts of his appalling denigration of American soldiers as “losers” & “suckers.”
I prefer presidents who wake up reflecting on how to improve lives.

Since his RNC speech nine days ago decrying leftist "cancel culture, speech codes, and crushing conformity," Trump has called for the firings of Fox's Jennifer Griffin, MSNBC's Joy Reid, and CNN's Chris Cuomo, and urged his supporters to harass the owner of The Atlantic.

The very worst possible move the Trump Campaign could have made right now was mocking Biden for going to the cemetery where his deceased veteran son is buried.
While Trump was golfing.
So, of course that's what they did.

Not sure if conservatives know Portland doesn't represent the United states its become the new chicago rallying cry of conservatives.. and portland is an oddity it Oregon its self
substantial majority of Portlanders — 74 percent — consider themselves to be liberal on social issues, compared with 35 percent of the rest of the region and 36 percent of the rest of the state.
But like most conservatives they want to spin this elaborate story that what's going on in Portland is tied to some grand national movment of the democratic party .
So places like fox and other conservative media outlets play the same loop day after day and have the base convinced its every where
here's a local example of conservatives and Trump supporters over reaction and gullibility, I have a brother in law who is a rabid Trump fan. Who informs me at a cook out about QAnon. And how yesterday Sunday BLM and Antifa were decending on a Trump flag store and he and others were going to defend the store . At 6pm. So yesterday 150 Trump supporters set up shop flags lawn chairs at the closed business majority Mask less no social distancing. . and guess who's shows up 2 18 years old with homemade signs. Simple masks no hoods no back pack or Antifa markings. One saying BLM and 1 saying G Floyd Rest in peace.. and in typical Trump support er fashion one guy got in their face screaming sun tans dont make you BLACK . Over and over . I guess he was suggesting your white you shouldn't be supporting a different race
Those 2 young Girls had some guts for showing up
Ps still haven't seen an explanation on who are these strongman flags directed at? Russia China or Americans who dont support Trump... .?

If the Republican Party totally flipped and became as Progressive as the Democrats, there would no longer be any need to support them or the Dems, nor Biden or Trump. It might then be too late, but at that point our support would shift to the Libertarians.

Trump still has not released his August fundraising numbers because he knows Joe Biden blew him way out of the water with the $364.5 million record he broke.
Trump's base is dwindling and there is nothing he can do to stop it.

Clearly not you but then you. Dont care about dignity, respect, compassion, honor , decency, accountability or basic competence .. or. Truth or the ability to actually tell it from the leader of the free world
Many of the traits all past Presidents possessed some more than others
But who does Trump and his supporters model him after Vladimir Putin
An actual communist and socialist Strong man
And they cant even see it happening
Here are some Trump supporters
If Russia assists MAGA Candidates on the internet in this year’s midterms, that’s not the end of the world.” And others re-upped a C-span clip from the day before in which a caller identified as Mary Lou from Connecticut said, “I’ll try not to sound too awful, but I want to thank the Russians for interfering with our election to stop Hillary Clinton from becoming president. That woman has got illusions of grandeur.”
And now Trump reportedly wants Putin summit before November election
Putin's Image Rises in U.S., Mostly Among Republicans
today.
Americans' Favorable Ratings of Putin, by Party
2015 2017 Change%
%
pct. pts.
Republicans 12 32 +20
Independentx 12 23 +11
Democrats 15 10 -5
GALLUP
Trump's friendlier approach toward Putin appears to have garnered more positive feelings from members of the president's party toward the Russian leader ... now way how could that poll show a plus 20 jump but Republicans keep saying Democrats what the United states to a communist socialist nation?.
