Fishing book by a young author
A colleague brought me a book this morning called Fishing the Crevice
written by Jack Reynolds. Jack is 2022 grad of Fairfield Public Schools in CT. He was a student in the middle school I teach at and my buddy coached him on the high school track team throughout high school. He grew up on his fathers charter boat in the western LIS and is a life long sufferer of the bug. He is now a freshman at Babson College. Prior to this, I had heard plenty from my friend about how great a kid Jack is and how he and I have mutual interests in fishing and the high jump.
I have given a brief scanning read of the book in the last hour or so and it is well written and informative. He really covers all the basics from structure to techniques for targeting the variety of fish the we have inshore in the north east. I would say it is particularly informative to people who are casual fisherman or just getting into the sport but it also worth a read for those of us who have a few years under our belts. It is really remarkable work for a 19 year old "kid"
If you are looking for a new read or a gift for someone interested in fishing and/or yyou just want to support a young writer, the book is available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Fishing-Crevi.../dp/B0BMT39BZX
For those of you who have worked or written for the magazines, I would appreciate any info on how to connect him with them. No doubt he has the skills and knowledge that there would be mutual benefit to both parties.

Fairfield is 15 minutes from me. Chances are I shared a tide with him and didn’t know it. Thanks for sharing, I will get a copy and read it over the winter along with DZ’s new book!

Thanks Zimmy. I'll probably order one later today just to help out a local youngster.

About writing for magazines, On The Water usually hires summer interns and I know they'll print a good fishing story, true or fiction, if it's about the East coast. Kevin Blinkoff or Jimmy Fee are the editors and I bet will respond to an inquiry.
I don't know about paying for articles, I only won a reel in the fiction contest they used to run. Had another turned down because I specified fish like lingcod and halibut which are more West coast.
Good luck.

I wrote a lot for the Fisherman mag. The pay was $85.00 for an article and sometimes they threw you a few bucks for pictures to go with the article. Not sure about OTW . When I was writing Gene Bourque was the editor and we never came to agreement.
