Canal this week.

I'm there. If you know anything about the Canal then you know!

No boat, back in the suds.

I know little about the canal and want to keep it that way, I can't be buying korkers and new rods and reels. Good luck Paul and if you want to hook up this week after fishing let me know. I'm probably heading to the Westport River monday to day up inside, otherwise I'm somewhat flexible.

I fished the Canal for almost 50 years without Korkers, and I'm still alive. Never even took a bad fall.

Rods and reels? I started fishing with an 8' Berkley glass rod and a Penn 704. The whole outfit cost about $50 in 1970s money.

Should have added and I have no interest. I have fished my arse off my entire life, not even at the top of my list of priorities any longer. Shot a 76 today and am playing again tomorrow, working on carvings in the afternoons, those are my preferred activities now. Sea bass season gets me out more, stripers not so much anymore, although if that giant school of bunker parks off my beach again this summer that might change.

Mark my words, young man, you will again get the fever!
I quit fishing for maybe 10 years other than The Block in the Fall with DZ. I am back on fire. I'm still not killing anything but I have the fire back.

No boat, back in the suds.

It’s just embers now, but I’m heading to fish up inside the Westport river in the am, should be lots of fish inside based on past years.

Update of the trip

2:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Dropping tide almost full moon.

5 bass one decent 34+" around 15# maybe a bit more. 4 others 20 to 25". And one huge Sea Robin. A first for me. Maybe 5 pounds and 20" long. Took a yellow teaser.

No boat, back in the suds.

It's the same every year when there are breaking tides. And of course with social media and instant communication, as soon as fishing gets good - multiply the crowds. That being said, it's been fun fishing.

As I posted, I was alone, in at aroiund 2:00 AM and out by 6:00 AM. Also didn't fish the crowd thing. I know how to find fish without standing in a waiting line.

Tedy was there? I think he played in a golf tourney at Franklin with some other former Patriot players. Saws 4 new Covettes lined up in the parking lot. Don't remember all the plates but one was Bruschi and one was RuffOne.

I will leave the dark side to you guys, five nice ones came today in 9 feet of water right about mid day and if my back and legs didn't say enough battling wind and incoming tide; I'm certain more were up on the flat feeding or warming up.

We had some good fishing and lots of laughs, today the action was on the flats below the Westport river bridges, which I hit after taking a quick dozen from that spot you might remember less fondly from a night way back when.
