Any Mechanics

So here is my dilemma 2021 Ram 1500 push button start suddenly
will no start no click no nothing . the remotes will not lock of unlock the truck or auto start the truck

charged the battery 100% no change . however I have headlights, 4 ways interior lights .. still no start

Went to walmart installed brand new battery. truck started as Normal

being happy with myself i started to put away my tools . 3 mins running maybe! then it it turns off $#%$%.. go to start again.. nope back to square one Nothing ! but I know it's not my old battery... i guess that's something ...

My only idea is I had or have water intrusion from the storm somewhere involving the ignition or the starter ?

However no water in the truck on the mats or rugs and the trunk wasn't facing into the wind ... no windows open nothing

have an appointment next week via tow truck...

That sucks. I bet you are right. Water intrusion is usually what causes stuff like this.

Try this.....place your foot on the brake then place FOB on the start button then push the start button all while keeping your foot on the brake.

Bummer … :-(
Did the new battery go low…
Leave the hood open daytime for the next several dry days…
Owners manual, fuse assignments, check the critical…..

Merry Christmas…. ;-)

Check the connections at battery. There are multiple connectors sendingbvilkage to various systems. By possibly replacing the battery you temporally fixed the issue . Water may have got into a connector and created a insufficient connection.

I dont know much about your particular vehicle, I'm a Chevy guy, but I'm guessing, when you disconnected the battery to replace it you re-booted something. If you had a code reader, you could probably get a read from the OBC - try disconnecting the battery again and see what happens..

This new stuff is so hard to diagnose without the right diagnostics - I'm sure the weather played a part in it's demise.

I once had a similar problem where the main fuse that has the see thru window to view the fusible link was blown but enough to make contact intermittently. This fuse is hardwired and not your typical plug in so you would have to remove the fuse panel to get to the bolts that mount to the main fuse.

Most problems are common within specific models, I would Google the crap out of it and probably find a link to a video on YouTube or something that would have things to try.

That said are you able to jump the starter solenoid, obvious safety concerns strictly enforced particularly if Manual transmission and help localize where the problem is?

Obviously check all your fuses, and check your fusible links.

Thanks for all the responses and I've tried everyone's suggestions

The issue that's got me is... nothing works with the remote not lock unlock or remote start . must have something to do with the keyless entry module

might try hitting the starter with a Hammer can't hurt

The FOB could be defective or the FOB battery needs replacement.

If you have an alarm system it is possible the system is locking down the FOB for entry and start, just a guess

Bring the original battery to someone and have it load tested. The only way to know for sure. If it tests NG maybe the new battery is defective too.

We are going through this all the time in the auto body shop.
We have to disconnect the battery while working on it for many reasons.
Re-connect and we have to plug in our $10,000+ scan tool to clear codes & or reprogram.
Besides spending that $10,000+ on the scan tool every few years we also pay subscription fees to different places to access their data and still not all car manufacturers allow access.

Thanks again for all the suggestions

It’s getting towed next week

Hopefully the tow truck driver knows how to disengage the e brake with no power . Because I haven’t found any way to disable it. Online or in the owners manual

Was updated today they claim they found and fixed the issue

The 3rd brake light leaked which fried the RF unit . So the water intrusion theory seems correct might have it back by Friday waiting for new 3rd light

Thankfully all under warranty

What is this RF unit that got fried? The third brake light seems a long distance from all your electrical systems and one would think it would be isolated enough to not shut down the whole system....

yes the rf unit was Toast that's what i was told. that the water traveled an smoked the RF unit .

still waiting on the call to pick it up .. because if they leave it outside this weekend it will fry again

did a search of RF hub saw this in a ram forum .. from last year

Since it seems to be a very common problem to have the rear window leak and often soaking the rf hub making it so you can’t even start the truck, The rf hub is on the rear wall below the window.

Mopar cannot seem to keep water intrusion issues at bay. I had a 2015 Jeep Patriot and the first two years I had water leaks from various failure points. Four warranty claims and one Mopar water leak specialist later and they sealed the failure points....with clear silicone... Rear tailgate area, unsealed pinch welds under the roof rails, etc. etc..

I feel your pain and wish you luck. Maybe consider making this your last Mopar product. Document everything in the event it persists to a Lemon Law claim.
