Kicked he proverbial can down the road despite recommendations by the technical committee and public comments in support of implementing measures to reduce mortality in 2025.

Just in case you were curious.

I started fishing for bass during the 1960s. I scraped through the lean years of the late 1970 and early 80s, and enjoyed what were probably the greatest years ever from 1990 until I put my rods down in 2011, when I saw what lay ahead for the bass. Still, the way the powers that be mismanaged what should have been their greatest success story pisses me off no end. I truly feel the species is totally #^&#^&#^&#^&ed now.

The thing for this meeting was the technical committee assessment showed there needed to be action for 2025 and not subsequent years. Somehow the majority of the commission were able to look past the specifics (and the public comments) and kick the can into 2026. If I were on the technical committee I would be writing a pointed letter to the commission and publish it to the general public.

Best part of all this from a personal standpoint would be if the entire fishery gets to the point were the only open season(s) are no harvest. Then all those that squandered the opportunity to save their fishing for harvest get nothing. Give 'em enough rope time me thinks.

Next year when I email my public comment, it's going to read much differently than all the others I have sent.

I've caught enough stripers to not really care personally, as I stopped targeting them years ago, but the next couple of generations are really going to miss out on what could be if only a game fish status was given to this incredible fish. Far more money to be made if that were to take place, but nobody can see the forest for the trees and the greed blinding them.
