Basic Patrick & Swimmer/Awards Ceremony

Having not been to a Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Tournament awards ceremony since 1985, and not knowing what to expect I was pleasantly surprised at the really great time had by all in attendence. Basic Patrick made the run to the Vineyard from the M.D.A. tournament to pick up his knew Orvis fly rod. I went from my house in East Bridgewater with the wife. We were packed into the Atlantic Connection restaurant and bar in Oak Bluffs for three hours of good time. We were lead in cheering for the local favorites by head wharf rat and former Red Sox bat girl, Squidmama. I was very pleased with my prize for 1st place shore flyrod bluefish, and to receive it in front of my wife made it even more special. But the highlight of the day was seeing all the children, mini-juniors, and junior fishermen receive their prizes. One young 14 year old girl lead the derby with her 40 pounder for two weeks guys. She didn't weigh 100 pounds. The finest moment came as far as the children are concerned when the derby committee announced the four $250.00 camp scholarships. We have to remember here that these kids were not invited on stage as were everyone else was. Their names were announced and it was obvious that was as far as this part of the function went. Well one young fellow who was awarded one of the camp scholarships wanted his 15 minutes of fame and walked up on to the stage and everyone gave him a huge hand and he stood there for five minutes with this huge inncent smile taking it all in and he totally oblivious to the fact that he wasn't supposed to be up there. In retrospect he might have deserved to be there more than anyone realized. Anyway another derb has past and it is forty seven weeks until the start of the next one. I am having severe withdrawal aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Thumbs up

Congradulations Swimmer & BP, so glad that your fish held for you both. Frank got your message. let me know when your next day off is so maybe we can go out and play. II'm thinkin it will be a shore trip to the cape or RI after all the more we saw out in the harbor today. Caught a few very small cod, 1 keeper cod, no bass, no blues. Was pretty windy and cold so don;t know if that had anything to do with it or not. But give me a call!!!!!!!
