My Grandfather's rod

It was one of his first rods (maybe about 30 to 40 years old or so), and I was using it over the summer a bit. As I was inspecting it, I noticed that some of the wraps are coming loose from the guides. I've been putting fly-tying cement on the exposed parts, and I'm not sure if this will work or not. Any suggestions?

God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast, I most humbly pray,
When in the Lord's safe landing net I'm peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be judged, as big enough to keep.
