sealing info.

I did the unthinkable today, I did this for my on going reaserch, but am now going to share with you.

I cut three plugs in half , no they weren't any good thats why I picked these.

one cooper...bluestreak...cap'n bill's.

what I found was this ,,,the bill's was made of sugar pine...the cooper was cheap eastern pine and the blue was made of top shelf mahogany

the cooper and bill's had no sealer at all. where the hook holes, screw eye's an lips were, the pine was jet black an on it's way to rotting.

now! the blue on the other hand had paint in ALL the holes an lip as well...paint was in the wire hole too, from one end to the other. then on top of that I found the clear coat through out the inside on top of the paint....there wasn't any sign of water getting into the wood anywhere.

it also looked to have 2-3 coats of primer on it as well, very thick. the other two I had to look very close to see any at all..........that is all/////

BOAT fish do count.
