Went out for like an hour today, skunko.
Guess some people were getting a few on bait on the bottom.

Skunked.
Saw a school of sand eels in a Salt pond and marked some pods of bait off a beach.

Got out to the bank and jigged for cod.
Weather wise , it was a day you dream about
Water was like glass all day!!!
3 of us fished, took a little while to find fish, but we all got our limits though most all were market size, no cows yet
Saw quite a few whales and porpoises also.

Fished Saturday and started with 20 stripers in the am and finished with about the same number of largemouth bass in the pm. I'm hoping to repeat tomorrow and with the big warmth and SW blow coming in, I'd bet it won't be hard to do, in fact I'm planning on doing better.
Poured baits all day, Tattoo and Kadir you have mail, Kadir you can't copy Alberto I don't have his email.

Goose - How big were those sand eels you saw?
Email or pm me with the spot - I'd like to shoot some pictures of them.

Got out Saturday. Boat ran fine; new toys worked great. Very windy in pm. Nothing bouncing jigs and trolling, though.
Oh, and I left my trusty surf bag on the dock and someone took it. It was only there for about ten minutes, too. I figure about $200 worth of tins, plugs, jigs, knife, ss pliers, and my collection of Spro swivels. I'm pissed!
Wrapped my line around my prop shaft--just one wrap--about 30 feet from beach at E. Matunuk. Hastily threw out anchor, set it, shut down and raised motor, removed line, and ended up in about two feet of water, but in rough surf. Just as I got the line off, the anchor pulled out. Thank Gawd for the Suzi's quick starts and motor tilt!!! I was taking rollers abeam, bouncing the bottom in the sand, but she got me outta there. Coulda been a lot worse but the old heartrate got up there for a while!

Its turned into an every man for himself thing now. Lots of vandalism and stealing from fisherman everywhere. I really hate to see it. It was once a gentleman's sport.

What kind of fisherman would steal anothers gear? This still baffles me.
There are two types of fisherman:
1) Last year some young guy was fishing the derby and was out on a jetty and witnessed a car stop next to his, steal the rods from his roof rack and drive off all while the guy was yelling and running back to his car. This was all the equipment he had. It was written about in the paper and the next day several different guys dropped off rods at this guys house for him to use so he could still fish the derby. (He never got his stuff back)
2) Also last year someone lost a rod and reel on the beach at night. It was a *really really* nice set up too. He left it leaning against the truck and drove away. When he relized it was gone he drove back the next AM looked around and figured someone nabbed it. He went into the tackle shop to buy a new rod and was telling the shop owner about what happened. Turns out the guy who found it dropped it off at the shop and the shop owner handed it back to him. You shoulda seen the look on this guys face when he was handed his rod back!
People who steal just pain suck in my book, no excuse whatsoever. You will have much more satisfaction in life if your are nice to people and return whatever does not belong to you.

A few years ago I found a tote full of electronics at the ramp during a thunderstorm. C.b. radio, fishfinder, v.h.f., tools, and some tackle. In with some of the manuals there was a phone #. I called the very relieved owner and he came over with his son to pick up his gear. They were up on vacation, losing this stuff would have ruined it for them. I couldn't even consider keeping it. I'm still waiting for the fish gods to reward me.

i made the voyage
to the ocean after stopping by MikeCC 's shop on route 6 in Wareham to buy some more plugs and tackle as usual when the season starts. He's got allot of nice fishing gear in there thats for sure. Then off i went fishing but found that my reel wouldnt work properly as it wouldnt lock up IE no drag function unless i held the spool from turning manually. WHAT A DRAG! PUN intended
so i said what the heck i'll go see what he thinks is wrong and ....being the GREAT guy that he is was able to fix it for me
in 30 minutes like he designed it himself. and he doesnt even repair reels! That just goes to show you what seperates the local tackleshop owner from the huge
stores that frankly dont really care. He will always have me as a customer and in fact i never pass through Wareham without stopping in because i know i'm gonna get a great deal. Thanks MIKECC...you're the best!
