When you get to 20 years old, you arent just a dumb kid.
Hell, when you are 12 you already have at least half a clue.
Personal experience I will say that from 11-15 is a crap shoot. Their brains get re-wired and they have little to no sense whatsoever.

But, by 17 they are back in control and at 20 They had better damn well know right from wrong.

Sorry Charlie. Them adults need to do some real work on top of it... I remember something about litter needing to be cleaned up... Maybe borrow 2 of them orange jumpsuits and have these ADULTS go clean the length of the canal. One on each side.

They will have plenty of time to think about their life of crime and consider where they could have ended up.

If they fail to do the cleanup charges are pressed.

There is a fine line that seperates a fisherman from a fool standing in water swinging a stick.

I agree with all of you that they need to be punished!!
But for the moment I am playing there game as I have not gotten 100% back yet.
If I try to push it maybe he will clam up and I will never get all my stuff?? But as soon as I have gotten all that I can get out of I do plan calling the police and making a complaint!!
I am just glad to get the GPS back with all my numbers!! That is what was borthering me the most!!

Any way I am getting my new chart plotter tomorrow and after I install and transfer all the numbers to it the Handheld will become a back up unit.
The new fish finder should be here at end of week and have not decided what to do with it yet?? After I reinstall my old unit to see if it still works I might sell it?? I got it new from ebay so it is not returnable ,but it was a good deal. Garmin 160 Blue Total with shipping was $150. I no a few persons with this and they like it ok. So if anyone is interested It might find its way to the sellers forum soon.

Thanks all I will keep posting the events as they unfold!!

MJ,

Nice going on getting your stuff back, you are one of the few who get it back. As others have stated....these are not kids anymore when there in thier 20's. I hear you when taking unit numbers, that's the first thing I thought about when your GPS was missing.

Throw the book at them... I am sick of people getting away with this kind of thing and then being seen as the 'victim' in the situation... the real victims are us, it is our stuff that gets stolen or broken.

If this happen in Truro, I had two rods stolen a few years back and the police did not seem to have much interest in persuing it.
I say send them to Walpole.

Sorry for your loss, MJ, hope you get your stuff back. Besides having no fear of retribution or punishment these days, a lot of punks simply have no consideration for other people's personal property or what the loss of that property means to their victim. Let them off scott free? That don't seem right. When I was a kid our house in NY was robbed by some local kids when we were up on the Cape for the summer. Talk about feeling violated!? I thought my old man was going to get his axe handle and break some bones, but he got the "They're really good kids, just had some bad breaks in life, went down the wrong path." So in exchange for not pressing charges, he got the police to put letters, signed by them and their parents, and filed at police hdqts., basically, that that was the last straw and in the future, for so much as a jay-walking charge they'd get an automatic, no questions asked, all expenses paid visit at the correctional facility at Riverhead.
They deserve some sort of punishment whether you get all your stuff back or not!

What campground? (If I may ask) Maybe a few calls to ask if the theivery situation is resolved then not making a reservation will get the message across to the owners. I say definately involve the LAW.

I hope you get 100% of your equipment. Then you would need to weigh the effort to see if it is worth calling the police and sending them to court for a trial. If you do, ask the judge for them to return your equipment or pay you the cash value. Then ask the judge to have them do community service such as cleaning up the fishing locations that get littered up during the season. Once you know the location then let everyone know so that they get the lessons of their lives which may result in them being better citizens.

I agree with Rocketman 100%
Not only should you press charges on the 20 year old ( kids ? ) to the fullest extent,
But come up with some way to make the camp ground have to be penalized for trying to sweep the situation under the carpet!!!
Just as the way the world is today and the fact that most kinds have no respect AT ALL!!!
In most buisnesses, $$$$$ is far more important than what is right or wrong!!!

I agree, go to court on this one....

But, I don't have ANY confidence in the courts to do anything more than, Continued without a Finding for one year (CWOF = Blow Off), Court costs are waived, 6 months probation, blah, blah, blah!

Who says crime doesn't pay?

Well I went to the Camp yesterday and they gave me everything that was taken from my boat!! Even something I did not relize was gone! (Brekly Imatation, Bolga grip)
The guys for some reason shot off all 12 flares. I had said I will settle for no less then 100% of everything they took!! So they bought me 2 new packs of flares. I said there were 12!! and the promply gave me the cash ($10) for the other 3. But 6 were out dated so I made out there.
I even got the key bacK!!

After I got a formal apolige from the 26 year old kid who looked like he was about 16!! and saw how nervos he was I have decided not to press charges.
I know there will be those that say I must!! But this kid is messed up!~!! Big time!! And I did got it all back. Then there is the time I will have to go to court in wareham. Not worth the hassle IMO. The Judge will just say he gave it all back and send him on the way any way.

I brought the laptop to work last night and I spent the better part of 3 hours typing up all the GPS numbers to disk just incase this happens again or if it just stops working .

I also took the time to tear out the old dash!! This has been something that has been needed for a long long time!!! I rewired all last season but just never found time to replace the dash.

So here is the old and the new!! I think it looks great!! and wish I did it along time ago.
I got the 1/4 X 9" X 21" Seaboard from a scrap pile behind a local boat place for $10
I have not finished yet but here it is.
